The Kirksville Coffee Company was founded in 1892 by George A. Smith and John W. Kline. The company became a national leader in roasting coffee, exporting its beans all over the world. In 1925, the Kirksville Coffee Company merged with the Holland Coffee Company to form the Holland-Kirksville Coffee Company. The company continued to produce high-quality coffee until 1973, when it merged with United States Coffee Corporation to form United States Coffee Incorporated.
Kirksville is located in the Ozarks of Missouri, in the center of the state. The town was laid out in 1836 by Alexander McAulliffe, a Scottish settler. It was named for him and his wife, Kirsten Kirks, who arrived from Scotland in 1825. Kirksville became a thriving agricultural community with large cotton plantations and small cattle farms. The Kirksville-based McKee Cotton company was one of the largest cotton producers in Missouri during the early 20th century. In addition to agriculture, Kirksville also produced munitions plants during World War I and II. Today, Kirksville is an active manufacturing town with a diverse economy that includes metalworking, plastics Manufacturing, homebuilding/repair services, trucking and transportation companies (including two light rail systems), software development services, as well as medical technology companies. The population of Kirksville has grown steadily over the past few decades; it reached its current level of around 90 residents in 2010. The history of Kirksville can be traced back to 1836 when Alexander McAulliffe settled hereabouts after coming overland from Scotland on horseback. He started a plantation called "McAuliffe's Spring" which grew into one of the most successful cotton plantations in Kansas Territory at that time. Under management by James McAulliffe (the son-in-law of Alexander) until his death in 1865; it continued operations until 1861 when it passed to John Fentonessee McNaughtney who sold it to Elijah Payson Reeder for $1 per acre fee (plus interest). In 1906 Reeder donated land within the town limits for public school purposes; this led to its present name - "KirksVILLE". At this time there were only 12 inhabitants living hereabouts - all farmers with their homes scattered throughout some 12 miles²² Some notable citizens include: President Ulysses S Grant attended school hereabouts through grade school before moving on to West Point where he graduated with honors in 1869.. After college he worked as an assistant surveyor for three years before becoming a lawyer at law firm Covington & Burling LLP which he joined until his retirement in 1916.. After having several children he married Edith Haggerty Cummings on February 7th 1922 and they had six children together including one daughter born posthumously - Alice Kinchloe Gilmore McDermott... Today there are presently 9 residents living within sight or reach of each other thanks largely to excellent bus transportation provided by Rangeman Bus Lines - making life very convenient for everyone!

Kirksville is a small town in northwestern Missouri, United States. The population was 4,945 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Kirksville–St. Joseph metropolitan statistical area. The community was founded by John Kirks in 1834, and named for him and his wife Eliza (Snyder). In 1884, it became one of thirteen towns that formed the St. Joseph Township subdivision of Mason County. It lost its township status in 1972, but regained it as of 2002. The first settler in what is now Kirksville was John Kirks who arrived there in 1834 from Maryland with his family. He built a log cabin on the banks of the White River and named it "John's Cabin." With only two other people living there at the time, John started a farmable land claim which he would sell to others over time until he had a herd of five cows and 20 acres (8 ha) total yield from his crops by 1850. In 1882, when St. Joseph Township was organized within Mason County, John Kirksville became one of its original twelve townships; however, it lost its township status in 1972 because many residents chose to move to neighboring communities such as Saint Louis or Kansas City instead of staying put. However, reinstated as an inhabitant on July 1st 2002 following 5 years without any significant changes to its demographics or infrastructure since then - including few new development projects - Kirksville has quickly resumed its former stature as one of rural central Missouri's most vibrant villages thanks largely to its active marketing and civic organizations which have taken up residence within the tight-knit community since its rebirth.
