It was located on Third Street. In 1924, aMr. and Mrs. John Jablonski opened their first business, The Coffee House on Market Street. This became one of the most successful businesses in town and also served as the nucleus for what is now known as Jacksons Coffee Company. In 1955, The Coffee House was bought by Mr. and Mrs. Gene Koppelman and changed its name to Koppelman's Cafeteria which continued to serve coffee until 1982 when it closed down due to financial difficulties. In 1990, Mr . & Mrs . Bob Smith purchased Koppelman's Cafeteria from Mr . & Mrs . Gene Koppelman and reopened it as Jacksons Coffee Company again serving coffee until 2002 when it closed again due to financial difficulties once again
Jackson, Missouri is a small town located in the Ozarks of central Missouri. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jefferson City-Jefferson County, MO Metropolitan Statistical Area. Jackson is known for its agricultural potential and for its nickname "The Garden Spot". Jackson was founded by David Whitcomb in 1817 as a hamlet on the west bank of the Arkansas River. Whitcomb named it after his father, Jackson Whitcomb Sr., who had been killed in a hunting accident three years earlier. The village grew rapidly and by 1840 it had a population of 350 people. By 1860, however, Jackson's growth had slowed to a trickle due to competition from larger towns nearby. In 1865, however, James Kempton donated land to the town for development and Jackson began to experience rapid growth again. In 1875, Andrew Johnson became president of the United States and made Jackson an official Ulysses S. Grant city; this change helped revive downtown business and increase population by 25%. After Reconstruction ended in 1877, many African Americans left Jackson for new opportunities in other parts of Missouri or Illinois. However, many white residents continued to live there until after World War II when they were forced out by racially restrictive zoning ordinances passed by local officials; these ordinances remain extant today. In 1965, little more than a half century after it first appeared on maps (the community was actually established less than 10 miles south of present-day Jefferson City),Jackson voted to become an independent city under statehood laws enacted that year; this event led to some controversy as most residents identified with their home county rather than Uniontown (which became Kansas City). In recent years efforts have been made to bring back some aspects of historic Jackson life such as bicentennial celebrations and special events throughout each year that commemorate significant moments within its history – including raceshorse racing at Fair Grounds Racetrack & Casino which reopened following renovation last year! Jackson, Missouri is a small town located in the Ozarks of central Missouri. The population was 9,764 at the 2010 census. Jackson is part of the Shawnee County, MO Micropolitan Statistical Area. The history of Jackson begins with its founding in 1837 by Alex Haley and his brother John. Alex Haley had been born in 1800 in what is now York County, Kentucky and had emigrated to Missouri during the 1830s. He founded a log cabin here and named it Jackson after hisfather, who also founded Jackson on the Kansas River near present day Topeka. By 1840, about 150 people lived here including some Scots-Irish immigrants from Ulster who were coming to escape religious persecution in Ireland. The early years of Jackson were difficult but there was progress made despite occasional challenges from neighboring towns that wanted to possess or control much of what would become downtown Jackson today. The first school was built here in 1841 and soon afterwards other public buildings such as a courthouse and jail were erected along with a few private dwellings. lumber became an important factor in this early community as did agriculture which produced corn, beans, potatoes and other vegetables for local consumption as well as hides and meat for export to nearby St Louis. Expansion into adjacent counties followed over time with businesses opening up around downtownJackson like grocery stores (Fenton's Store opened on Main Street in 1851), banks (the first one being The Bank & Trust Company building on Third Street which still stands)and churches (Church Hill Methodist Episcopal Zion Church was built on Union Avenue). Many residents from rural backgrounds came to work Downtown when new transportation options became available such as trains running through town from Jeffersonville or Washington City while others started their own farms near downtown makingJackson one of the most vigorously developed communities outside of St Louis at that time
