Independence, Missouri is a city located in the eastern region of the United States. The city was founded by the Missouri Compromise of 1821, which created a final version of the U.S. Constitution and established elected government in the state. In 1836, Independence was annexed by Kansas and renamed Topeka. As a result of its annexation, Topeka lost its right to self-government and became part of Kansas City under American rule until it regained its independence in 1907. The city's nickname is "Thee Capital" due to its location at the capitol building for both Kansas and Missouri governments during this time period. Today, Independence is home to a variety of businesses including several hospitals as well as numerous private schools and cultural institutions.

Coffee lovers have been enjoying the delicious cup of Joe since at least the 1600s. There are numerous theories as to why coffee was so popular in that time, but one theory is that it was because it was a healthy drink. Coffee beans were roasted quickly and used very little water, which resulted in a rich flavor and a lack of bitterness.

Independence, Missouri is the smallest and most eastern of the seven U.S. states that make up the country of America. Located on the confluence of the Ohio and Missouri Rivers, it was named for its independent status from Great Britain following the American Revolution in 1776. The city of Independence became a national capital after being chosen as such in 1802 by President James K. Polk due to its strategic location on both sides of the river. The city experienced significant growth during its early years, with businesses and residents expanding into surrounding counties. However, due to rugged landscape and lack of transportation options, Independence struggled to keep up with population growth over time. In addition, although founded as an agricultural community, Independence gradually transitioned into a manufacturing center during this period; however, this transformation was not complete until after World War II when industry began to boom thanks to new investments in manufacturing plants created by foreign investors. After decades of struggles and Struggles, Independence finally achieved statewide recognition as a major cultural and economic center in the 1960s when it became one of only two cities in Missouri to sign an affirmative action pact with University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC). In recent years, efforts have been made to revitalize downtown areas including plans for a mixed-use redevelopment project called "The Landing", which would include office buildings along one side of Main Street while housing developments are planned across other blocks adjacent to Interstate 70/Uppertown Road; these projects have been met with mixed reactions from locals who feel that they do not fit well within existing downtown boundaries while also providing more commercial development than what is currently available within town limits. Despite these challenges, Independence continues to be one of America's most vibrant cities located just outside the Greater St Louis metropolitan area; today it remains a vibrant place where culture meets commerce and politics meet everyday life needs

When the United States of America was founded in 1776, Missouri was part of the new nation. The area that is now Missouri was inhabited by Native Americans for many years and there were no white settlers until after the American Revolution. After independence was achieved, the United States Congress decided to move westward and take land from Mexican owners in what is now Arizona. When this did not happen, Missourians voted to become a part of the Union rather than let their state be taken away by Washington D.C. After 1861, when Confederate soldiers attacked Ulysses S. Grant's army at Ford’s Theatre in Maryland, much of western Missouri came under military occupation from Federal forces until 1864 when all territory east of the Mississippi River became Union territory under General James K. Polk's administration. In 1865, Missouri became one of three states that seceded from the Union (the other two being Kentucky and West Virginia). The State Legislature moved into session for the first time on November 3, 1866 and soon passed several laws designed to facilitate white settlement in what is now northwestern Missouri: an act allowing private ownership of land within five miles of a town or village; an act creating a board to manage public lands; an act providing for black residents to vote; and an act legalizing cattle drives into Indian country in order to bring over more cows for agricultural purposes. By 1870, white farmers had started farming areas around present-day Springfield and Council Bluffs while ranchers continued grazing areas along rivers such as the Kansas River throughout most of northwest Missouri except near Jefferson City which became a cotton center during this time period due to its location on riverboats transporting goods southward across Iowa Territory (later Kansas Territory)
