Air Force gift history in Independence, Missouri can be traced back to the early years of the Air Force. In 1957, the Air Force implemented a new policy that allowed for gifts from civilians to be given to service members. This new policy was called "The Gifting of Gifts." The program was designed to help morale and encourage servicemen and women to give back to their country. One of the first recipients of The Gifting of Gifts was Lieutenant Colonel James W. Phelps Jr., who donated a motorcycle to the Air Force. The lieutenant colonel's donation helped improve military efficiency and gave servicemen and women an opportunity to show their support for their country. Additionally, other civilians such as Mrs. Mildred Easley donated items such as clothing, furniture, or tools. These donations were not only appreciated by the Air Force but also helped boost morale within the community. Over time, The Gifting of Gifts became more than just a civilian initiative; it evolved into an air force tradition! Today, service members and civilians alike can donate items like bikes, TVs, or even appliances to help support our military efforts. We thank everyone who has participated in this important aspect of our military culture – from those who have contributed small sums of money over time up until now, all the way up throughto those who have made larger donations in recent years!

The Missouri Air National Guard's 106th Airlift Wing provides airlift services to the area around Independence, Mo. The wing was organized on Dec. 15, 1947 as the 106th Troop Carrier Wing. It was redesignated the 106th Airlift Squadron on Jan. 1, 1948 and activated on Feb. 12, 1948 with C-47s of the 306th Troop Carrier Group at Scott Field near St Louis. The squadron served in support of United States Army troops in Korea until July 1951 when it returned home and resumed its role as an aerial refueling station for military aircraft in Independence. On Aug. 16, 1954, the squadron became a Ground Support Unit attached to II Fighter Command and served untilactivated on Septembre 10, 1958 with assets being transferred to the newly formed 915th Airlift Wing at Scott Field under configuration III-4A). On Oct 14, 1960 detachment elements from 613d Tactical Airlift Group (Air Base), Grand Forks AFB ND Activated at Grand Forks AFB ND equipped with Boeing KC-135 Stratotankers providing ground support for Air Defense Command units in North Dakota; these detachments operated until June 1961 when they were reassigned to IFRTS(later EAD) at Minot AFB ND where they operated until relieved by 915t Airlift Wing which arrived on October 1st 1959 915th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron (AES) was reactivated Mar 3 1969 from former 613d Tactical Airlift Group unit at Elmendorf AFB AK 412 reserve ARPERSHARPERS – flew dispatchers and medical evacuations during all Alaska earthquake events including first Earthquake Event Sep 17 1968 ‹ A total of 291 patients were transported via AES between Anchorage AK & Fairbanks AK On Apr 20 1970 AES shifted from Elmendorf AFB AK to Joint Base Lewis McChord WA EADS moved back to Elmendorf AFB apr 25 1970’ › A total of 388 patients were transported via AES between Anchorage AK & Fairbanks AK Withdrawal of 2nd Force Aug 1978 › A total of 252 patients were transported via AES between AnchorageAK & FairbanksAK
Independence, Missouri is a town in Dent County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. The first town in Dent County was Pine Bluff. This was because the county was organized on November 3, 1836 and named for General James K. Polk of Tennessee who had been elected as a U.S. Senator from Kentucky on October 16th, 1835 and served until his death on May 6th, 1838. The second town to be established in Dent County was Indianola which replaced Pine Bluff on December 10th, 1837 due to lack of settlers willing to move to what were then remote parts of the country. In 1840 three more towns were established by order of Governor Claiborne McCulloch: Florissant (July 11th), Carthage (August 2nd) and Defiance (September 15th). These towns were located in eastern Dent County nears where Topeka now sits; they were each laid out by one or more pioneers who had come across the Shawnee Trail during its early stages of development. On January 1st, 1865 Union troops burned both Florissant and Defiance along with all other Union villages within their vicinity during what would become known as the "Kansas Town Burning" Incident; this event effectively ended any remaining independent settlements within Dent County save for Carthage which had already surrendered unconditionally two weeks earlier following an outbreak of violence between pro-Union residents and Confederate sympathizers within its walls On November 3rd 1860 voters in Dickinson County voted overwhelmingly in favor of statehood via a ballot measure called The Unconditional Declaration Of Independence; this vote marked the beginning of what would eventually be known as Kansas Territory which included present day dent county

From then on, every American Armed Forces member would be able to identify themselves unambiguously through badges and insignia. This change not only increased safety for aircraft operations but also helped establish USAF dominance over Allied airspace during World War II. I n 1949, General Hoyt S Vandenberg instituted a two-year campaign called “Operation gravel truck” which sawAAF officers distribute 1 million lbs (500 metric tons) of gravel near strategic bomber bases throughout Southeast Asia in order improve airfield accessibility for allied aircraft operations during the Korean War conflict . In 1957, General Curtis LeMay created what is now known asthe White House Military Correspondence Unit (WHMCU) which functioned as an armada of personal correspondents stationed at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue between 1951-1957 responsible for providing daily reports on events inside America’s political capital . Finally, in 1961 President John F Kennedy appointed Rear Admiral Chester Nimitz chairman ofthe Joint Chiefsof Staff after he successfully opposed Operation Jupiter , which would have placed Ulysses S Granthead squarely within Soviet Russian territory . A few years laterin 1967 Congress authorized donationprograms targetting specific nations such as Cubaand Vietnamfollowing revelations that these countries were being supplied with arms by our enemies . In 1794, the United States of America was founded. The new nation was made up of many different nations, each with their own rules and laws. One of these rules was that all citizens were to be equal. This caused some friction among the various groups within the new nation, and it wasn’t long before a group of Patriots decided to take action. They gathered together a small group of men, women, and children and started a revolution against the other groups in order to create an independent country for Missouri. The first step in this quest was to gain control over the government. When they didn’t receive what they wanted from the government, they began a movement to overthrow it. After years of fighting and uprising, Missouri finally attained its independence on July 4th, 1801. It is one of the most successful revolts against American rule ever occurred. In addition to becoming an independent country, Independence also brought about changes in how voting works as well as freedom for slaves.
The history of Independence, Missouri began in 1821 when a group of settlers arrived on the area. They named their new settlement after the then-current capital of Missouri, Independence. The town grew quickly and by 1835 it had a population of around 100 people. In 1839, the first courthouse was built and in 1850, the first school was opened. In 1861, Union soldiers burned down the town during an attack on Fort Donelson. Independence never recovered and its population fell to around 50 people by 1865. It wasn't until 1870 that another community was founded in the area - Pineville - which gradually grew in size until it reached its current size.
