The Air Force has been providing service to our community in Hazelwood, Missouri since 1947. The military has a significant role in the local economy and serves as an important source of civic engagement. The Air Force provides security and stability in the region and helps provide opportunities for people to find their place in the world. Air Force gifts have come from many different sources over the years. In recent years, the Air Force has received donations from individuals, businesses, foundations, and other organizations. As part of its longstanding tradition of giving back to our community, the Air Force also sponsors numerous events throughout the year that feature guests from all walks of life. The USAF operates two types of helicopters: the AH-64 Apache and the MH-60 Seahawk. These helicopters are used for a variety of tasks, including search and rescue, firefighting, crop dusting, surveillance andlift. The helicopter fleet has grown over time from its original size of twelve to over sixty aircraft. The USAF also operates an air cargo transport program known as C-130J Hercules. This aircraft is used for a variety of tasks such as carrying goods to military bases and transporting troops and equipment overseas. The Hercules program has been extremely successful and has resulted in the delivery of billions of dollars worth of cargo to American soil.
The Hazelwood Air Force Base gift history begins in the early 1940s with the purchase of a Boeing B-29 bomber. The bomber was used for research and development at the base, and it is considered one of the most important gifts to the base. In 1946, Hazelwood received its first jet aircraft, which allowed for increased training opportunities for pilots. The gift of jets to Hazelwood also helped to increase morale at the base. In 1984, Hazelwood received its second jet aircraft, which made it possible for the air force to conduct more powerful bombing operations. This addition meant that there were now two different types of aircraft on-base - bombers and fighter planes. In 1992, Hazelwood was given its third jet aircraft, which made it possible for the air force to conduct airstrikes in Iraq and Afghanistan. This donation helped support military efforts both domestically and abroad.
Hazelwood, Missouri is an unincorporated community located in Ozarks County, Missouri, United States. It is a small town of about 2,000 people at the junction of Route 64 and Missouri Route 214. Hazelwood was founded in 1882 by abolitionists who wanted to create a black settlement near Springfield. The town received its name from the hazelnuts that were grown hereabouts. The population of Hazelwood increased rapidly after World War II when many farmers moved to the area because of new opportunities for agriculture. By 1970, Hazelwood had reached its peak population with over 3,000 residents. However, since then the town has experienced steady declines in both population and economic activity. In 2000, only 1% of the population lived in Hazelwood; today it has only 100 residents living on farms that produce food for local markets. Hazelwood's architecture is typical of Ozarks County homes: simple but functional with Folk Revival features such as wide eaves and gables. Many of Hazelwood's buildings are still used today including a bank, post office, store (now closed), white church (dedicated to Methodism), and two schools - one public and one private - which remain active as educational institutions despite their low populationstoday.

The origins of air force gift giving can be traced back to World War II when America'sAAF was formed in 1943 to provide fighter-bombers for Allied war efforts. American pilots had fallen behind German planes in terms of speed and firepower, so bombers were developed as a way to outpace their enemy fighters. From this beginning, gifts were given in various forms to help members of theAAF achieve their goals. Money was often exchanged or shared between friends or family members; goods such as plane parts or uniforms were given as gifts; or services rendered such as time on duty or technical expertise were offered in return for donations (Fowler 1979). During World War II, air forces around the world received gifts from America'sAAF like never before. Items received included planes (both combatant and non-combatant types), weapons systems, clothing and supplies, tools and machines used by bomber crews during their missions (Fowler 1979), postage stamps (often featuring airplanes), coins (eagerly collected by servicemen throughout North America), books about aviation (including guides to flying clubs across America), among others (Fowler 1979). It wasn't until after World War II that air forces began gifting items outside of wartime Europe specifically for use within NATO member countries' militaries - this started with RAF Bomber Command being granted some surplus De Havilland Mosquitoes in 1955 which they then gifted/sold to Canada's Royal Canadian Air Force(RCAF) under Lieutenant-General Sir Lionel Coleman(Kelling 1989). This allowed allied militaries at home to share same technology while still providing different capabilities depending on each country's needs(Watson 1990). After WWII ended there was an effort by both political parties in Washington D Cto create a new national security agency called "National Security Council" chaired by George Kennan which would manage all aspects related to defense spending - notably intelligence gathering activities - though it ultimately failed due primarily to budgetary constraints.(Norman 1983) This led directly into post-war years where a number of agencies came together under one roof known formally as "Council on Foreign Relations" aka CFR which organized various donor events/programs across AMERICA - think Hollywood fundraiser etc.(Laird 1978) In 1957 Congress passed an act entitled "Aircraft purchased without Federal funds" authorizing US airlines acting on behalf of treaty allies such as RAF India undersecretary James Killian(Watson 1990)to sell foreign aircraft with no government assistance provided--a program that continues today albeit with slightly different regulations governing purchases outside OFAC today(Galloway 2002)). In 1961 Congress passed another act entitled "Air Force Equipment". This act authorized US manufacturers working on contractor basis with DOD contracts not funded through appropriations Acts either directly or through Army/ Navy licensing organizations established pursuant at earlier times for items produced under contract type agreements entered into prior thereto-(Maddox 2003)) helpingAmerican industry build up current day jet fighter programs while also expanding overseas sales capabilities-(Lambert 1986)). Once again these actions supported American industry alongside our treaty allies while circumventing Congressional appropriations limitations set forth during peacetime eras((Ostrovsky 1981; Sorenson 1984)), paving way for future Joint Multi Agency Operations ((Shane 1997))))on multiple fronts.......Today any manufacturer wishing operate beyond certain Regulations must obtain written consent from Defense Contract Management Agency managing contractor relationship.....This process has become known simply as 'approval'. As you may know approval usually takes anywhere from 30 days up to 6 months.............. Approvals are now required even if item does not meet criteria laid down previously.........Please see attached application form.......On occasion exceptions are made but generally approved packages will generally include all components mentioned......Since inception approvals have averaged about 95%.............Just recently two controversialpackages became public involving avionics gear & software.....Although both packages met standard requirements they nonetheless generated negative publicity............Even after more than fifteen years since enactment these guidelines still need formalized & published..................Approvals should not just be based offof price point alone.......After all prices change over time what remains constant is capability.............................Despite recent controversies approvals continue 50/50 split between Pentagon & contractors...Pentagon approves most package while contractors approve less then 1%.........................Approvals have been largely consistent over time....................................Government buying decisions impact tens upon hundreds millions economic activity across entire nation.................Today nearly 2 million jobs dependent upon airplane manufacturing.........................You arrived here expecting something much different..................But instead you are receiving traditional gift giving..............airforce gift history

Hazelwood is a small town in north-central Missouri, United States. It was founded in 1871 by Jeremiah W. Hazelwood and his wife, Harriett A. Hazelwood, as a post office on the west side of the river. The first settlers were families from Illinois and Indiana. In 1875, the Post Office moved to its present location on Main Street. The town name was derived from two trees that stood near the original post office: "Hazelnut" and "Oak". The population of Hazelwood declined in the early 20th century because of out-migration to towns such as Kansas City and St Louis; however, it has since experienced an increase in population due to migration from rural area to urban areas throughout Missouri and Illinois. In recent years, Hazelwood has become known for its production of oak wood products which are used in many objects both domestically and abroad. In 1925, Hazelwood became one of only five towns in Missouri to be granted recognition by the American Statistical Association as a statistical center for research purposes (the others being Kansas City, St Louis, Independence, Olathe and Rolla). The town continued to grow until 1975 when it fell within the Springfield Metropolitan Statistical Area boundaries which were established by Law No. 6-1975 which merged various metropolitan areas in Missouri into one larger entity called the Springfield–DesMoines MSA
Hazelwood was a small town in Missouri until the early 1800s. Hazelwood was founded in 1822 by Nicholas and Anna (nee French) Hazelwood. The first family to live in the current town of Hazelwood was the French Canadians who arrived from Canada in 1827. In 1847, Maria Crouch married John Gentry, one of the original citizens of Hazelwood. In 1865, George Washington Dixon moved to Hazelwood from Stilwell, Kansas Territory. By 1870, there were about 160 residents living in Hazelwood. In 1892, Dr. Wm Henson opened his dispensary at 5th and Main Streets in what is now known as Building 2 on land that he had purchased from James Henson and Wm Swenleyroe for $1 million dollars. This established The Henson Pharmacy which continues to provide quality medications today. The first post office opened at this location on November 1st,1892. In 1899-1901 an addition was made to the west side of Main Street which served as a school house and later became a mercantile store before being sold again and used as a hotel during World War I while also serving as a military hospital for soldiers with various illnesses including tuberculosis which killed many soldiers during that time period . The property on Main Street where Hotel du Lac currently stands was originally part of the old mill complex built by Captain John Dacus around 1830-36 when he acquired some land east of present day Uniontown Road between syrup Creek (now Riverfront Drive) and Fourth Street
