Coffee became more prevalent in Europe after World War II when people began exchanging goods and services with friends and colleagues over phone calls or during business meetings. At this point, espresso machines became popular because they could make large amounts of espresso quickly without having to wait for hours for a pot of ground coffee to be ready (which often took hours). In 1837, Major General James K. Polk commissioned the building of Fort Benton, in what is now Arkansas. The fort was designed to protect Missouri from Indian raids and it became one of the most important military posts in the west. The fort also served as a trading post and transportation center for goods moving between present day Oklahoma and Texas. The original grandstand at Fort Benton was built by Colonel John S. Bowen and his son-in-law, Captain Augustus H. Humphreys. It consisted of a wooden platform with a stage on one side and dressing rooms, officers’ quarters, storage areas, and an arsenal on the other side. The site of the current grandstand was purchased by Colonel John Prentice in 1881. In 1907, General William Taney called attention to the need for a new grandstand because of increasing population growth in Grandview and elsewhere in Grandview Township. A committee was created to study design proposals for a new grandstand that would be able to seat 5,000 spectators. The committee recommended that the structure be designed by Jules Romberg of St Louis who had developed plans for similar structures used at baseball stadiums across America such as Olympic Stadium in London and Yankee Stadium in New York City (now Madison Square Garden). Romberg submitted sketches for both a single stand with an open area above ground level for games played under lights or live entertainment as well as two stands - one with an open area aboveground level for games played without light while another stand housed an exhibit hall containing models of American warships from 1775 to 1898 (the first time this type of display had been exhibited outside North America). On July 1, 1909, after much discussion within the village council chaired by Mayor Harry Nourse III., approval was given to begin construction on what would become historic Grandview Park Elementary School located across from where the old ball diamond once stood on Girdwood Street south of Market Place (now Twenty Second Street)). Work continued until 1913 when all but four cornerstonestones were laid during which time funds were short due to World War I hostilities overseas. AfterWWI ended there continued efforts to raise money through private means culminating with renovations completed in 1928 that increased seating capacity to 10,000 spectators including additional bleachers along both sides of home plate which still remains today! In 1933 authorization was given appropriations “to build over 50 more seats at no cost” making Grandview Park home field for local high school sports teams beginning with varsity football starting in 1934! From then until 1942 when World War II startedGrandview park served primarily as housing barracks for Ulysses S Grant army troops training here prior their deployment eastward into Europe! After WWII ended there began efforts againt raising money through private means culminating with renovation completed in 1948 that increased seating capacity yet again reaching 15,000 spectators including additional bleachers along both sides of home plate which still remains today! On November 9th 1951 local resident Willis Coker presented architect Orville Ellingtonwith a check worth $3 million dollars towards completionof what would become legendary Robertson Stadium set back off limitsgridlock streets bordering downtown Grandview Heights just inside city limits adjacent onlyto Interstate 35!!! With its newly installed concrete playingfields measuring 80 x 30 feetGrandVIEW STADIUM WERE COMPLETED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HIS LIFE ORVILLE ELLINGTON!!!!!! Following its debut game against Wichita State Univ...the stadium quickly became known throughout Missouri Valley countryas THE PLACE TO SEE A BASEBALL GAME
Grandview was founded in 1864 by a group of men who were looking to move westward. The town was named after the geographic features that it contained: Grandview Heights, Grandview Village, and Grandview Hills. The first store in town opened in 1865. By 1880, the population of Grandview had grown to over 100 people. In 1886, the first school in town was built. In 1914, the first post office in town was established. The town lost its status as a city when it merged with nearby Poplar Bluff into the new city of St Joseph in 1938.
