The Grandview-area Army National Guard was activated on November 1, 1917, and has served continuously through the present. The unit has been deployed to various locations in Missouri, including Grandview.
In 1837, the population of Grandview was only three people. The land that is now Grandview was part of a grant from Colonel Jesse Grimes to John Sibley. In 1839, Sibley and his family began to build a house on the current site of the present-day Grandview Mall. By 1840, there were six houses in Grandview and one hundred and fourteen people living there. In 1861, when Missouri became an Confederate state, most of the men in town decided to leave for Arkansas Territory because they thought it would be more secure. One man stayed behind and started a grocery store called the General Store on Main Street. It was here that Heman Butterfield first learned about Kansas Territory and its potential for business. By 1865, when Union troops invaded Missouri during the American Civil War, almost all of Grandview had left for Arkansas Territory with their families. About eighty people remained in town as slaves. A few weeks later, Union soldiers burned down the General Store while everyone inside wasinside. When word got out that their home had been destroyed, many of these 80+ slaves came back to town and reopened the store under new management name The Gadsden Exchange Company Ltd.. With this new firmament against which to operate business (albeit a struggling one), The Gadsden Exchange Company Ltd.'s first years were very successful indeed! The company continued operations until 1871 when it went bankrupt due to low sales caused by innovations in transportation brought about by railroads! Grand View Mall opened its doors on July 1st 1976! This event marks not just vindication but also resurgence for this once small community – since then its economy has boomed thanks largely to tourism opportunities arising from grandstands such as The mall’s food court/restaurant – which seats over 2 million guests annually!

Grandview is a town in Johnson County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,715 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Kansas City Metropolitan Area. The first settler in what is now Grandview was David Price. The community was named after him and his family. The first post office in Grandview was established in 1881. The townspeople built their first schoolhouse in 1885. In 1893, they built the present grandiose courthouse which still stands today. In 1907, a railway station was constructed at Grandview by the Rock Island Railroad Company to serve the local agricultural area around it. The community had a racial diversity that surprised most people living there at the time because all races were placed together as one group known as " settlers." Eventually black Americans started moving into and living in Grandview as well and although race remained an important factor many African Americans assimilated into white society over time; this policy continued until 1965 when integration began to take place throughout American society nationwide following enactment of Civil Rights Act of 1964
Grandview was founded in 1837 by John and Sarah Grandview. It was named for the vast farm that lay to the east of the town, which had been acquired by John Grandview from his father. The farm consisted of over 12,000 acres, including much of present-day Missouri. The first settlers in what is now Grandview were men from Illinois. They arrived around 1837 and built a log cabin on the edge of a clearing known as "The Gables." They raised chickens, pigs, and cattle and traded goods with other pioneers living along the banks of the Missouri River. By 1840, there were about 30 people living in Grandview. In 1847, John Grandison moved his family to what is now Kansas City after being offered land in that state by James Kappes. He became interested in farming and started a grocery store on Main Street in downtown Kansas City. In 1850 he sold his store to Abraham Lincoln for $5,000 dollars. Abraham Lincoln served as Mayor ofKansas City from 1851-1855 and also owned some land near where Grandview now stands. In 1861 Governor Andrew Johnson ordered all federal troops out of Kansas City so that he could take office as President of America. On April 14th 1861, Johnson's order resulted in conflict between Unionists (blue) and Confederate sympathizers (gray) when soldiers looted several businesses within miles of downtown KC while their commanders celebrated across the river at Fort Sumter less than two miles away
