Since then, the Rankins have been donating their roasted beans and grinders to various local cafes and restaurants throughout the Midwest. The shop was located on North Main Street. It was originally run by Mrs. Lula Weese and her husband, Bud Weese. In the 1940s, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Riggs bought the business and changed its name to The Coffee House & Bakery. They operated it until the early 1960s when it became a convenience store with an grocery attached called The Gourmet Grocery Ltd.. In 1967, they sold the business to Maurice Kapp who ran it as Maurice's Coffee House until he sold it in 1984 to Rick Hensley who reopened it as the Gladstone Coffee House & Café in 1985 which is still currently running today.
Gladstone is a small town located inJefferson County, Missouri. It had a population of 527 as of the 2010 census. Gladstone was founded by John Gladstone in 1838. The community developed around the post office and agricultural goods store, which remain active today. The first settler in Gladstone was John Cunningham, who arrived in 1838. By 1840, there were twenty-four people living in Gladstone. The following year, Arvin Barney purchased land from John Cunningham and erected a cabin on it. In 1843, the town plat was filed and John Boyd became the first justice of the peace. In 1845, James Neely came to Gladston with his family and established himself as a merchant. He built a grist mill on the west side of Main Street and started an industry that continues to this day - grinding flour for local consumption and also exporting it to Hannibal, Illinois. In 1850, JF Goodrich & Son arrived from Carthage Heights with their wagon train andestablished themselves as farmers around 12 miles northeast of Gladstone on Ulysses Road. They farmed corn until 1865 when they decided to open up cattle ranching operations which continue to this day! With its busy commercial district and close proximity to Hannibal (a major city at the time), Gladston had become known for its market gardening products by1880s! By 1890, over ninety percent of all produce grown within two miles of town was sold here! It wasn't until World War II that things really changed for Gladstone – during that time, many jobs were created through military service; however production losses led to decline in population over ensuing years leading to incorporation into Jeffco School District in 1961! With present day infrastructure including modern amenities such as schools and businesses – it's no wonder that so much has come since those Head Start days for children growing up inside one municipality!

The town had a population of around 100 residents when it was first established. Gladstone grew rapidly due to its location and easy access to the Mississippi River. In 1840, the town had a population of over 200 residents and by 1845, it had increased to over 500 residents. By 1860, Gladstone had reached its peakpopulation with over 1,000 residents. However, after the American Civil War began, Gladstone quickly lost its importance as a town because of the distance it was from major cities. After the war ended in 1865, there were only about 50 residents remaining in Gladstone. The town slowly declined until it ceased to exist as an entity within Jackson County in 1870.
