The Coast Guard was founded on April 17, 1915 in Fulton, Missouri. The first Coast Guard station in Fulton was established at the town's foot of the hill and consisted of a couple of tents. Today, the Coast Guard operates 5 stations located throughout Fulton County: 1st District Headquarters, 2nd District Headquarters, 3rd District Headquarters, 4th District Headquarters, and the Coastal Zone Center. Fulton is home to one of the state's only Coast Guard Cutters- HMCS "Osprey" which has been stationed here since 1987. Additionally, Fulton is home to the world's largest collection of maritime artifacts housed at the Missouri Maritime Museum.

Fulton, Missouri is a small town in central Missouri, United States. The population was 1,691 at the 2010 census. It is part of the St. Louis metropolitan area. Fulton was founded in 1831 by William Fulton and his family. The community originally consisted of just a few homes and barns on the south side of the river where it now sits on the east side of High Street between Webster Avenue and Elmhurst Avenue. In 1836, Fulton donated land to form what is now known as Fulton Park. In 1847, he also founded Central National Bank which still operates today.The first post office in Fulton opened in 1851 and served until 1865 when it moved to St Charles County under then-Governor Thomas Jeffersons order following an increased demand for banking services from residents in central Missouri during the late 1800s boom period that followed the American Civil War. In 1904, local man George Waddell erected a large concrete water tower near present day Elmhurst Avenue to celebrateMissouri's centennial year; this structure remains one of Fulton's most recognizable landmarks today. The Coast Guard has a rich history of giving gifts. Gifts have been given to the Coast Guard since 1932 when the Coast Guard was established as an arm of the Department of Commerce and Labor. In that year, Congress passed a bill providing for the donation of $5,000 to be used for the purchase of equipment and supplies for the Coast Guardsman. The first gift from the Coast Guard was a boat named “Pioneer” which was donated by Rear Admiral James W. Hughes in 1936. In 1951, Congress authorized the donation of a new ship, “Hercules” which became operational in 1957. In 1971, Congress authorized the donation of two helicopters, “Majestic II” and “Spiritual Warrior” which were both donated by General Electric Company. In 1984, Congress approved the donation of four boats-two frigates and two destroyers-for use by law enforcement officers on patrols off America's coasts. The following year, Congress authorized donations of six helicopters-four model A24s and two model H15s-for use by coastal guard personnel during search and rescue operations. Since then,the Coast Guard has received many donations including: five submarines (USS Thresher (SSN 769), USS Scorpion (SSN 753), USS Ponce (SSN 827), USS Granite State (LSD 4) and USS John F Kennedy Presidential Library) ; three amphibious assault ships; eight Littoral Combat Ships; nineteen MH-60R Black Hawk Helicopter aircraft; eleven UCLASS submarines; thirteen patrol boats; twenty large container ships.; ten smaller container ships.; ten Palomar Observatory telescope Sets ; seventy one Marine Corps Reserve Camp Robinson Barracks tentatively designated as Site E(Freetown). Additionally, more than 1 million pieces of Lt.-Gov.-level memorabilia are being stored at Headquarters Commandant's Office at Quantico .
Fulton, Missouri was founded on October 3, 1819 by a group of Englishmen. The town was named after the Fulton County in Georgia. The town started as a small farmstead and soon developed into a thriving community with several stores and homes. By the 1830s, Fulton had become an important center for trade and commerce in what is now Missouri. In 1838, the town formed its own government and became known as the "City of Fulton". In 1846, Fulton became part of the newly created Kansas Territory. After two years of struggle, Kansas statehood was finally granted to Missouri on November 6, 1847. As part of this new state, Fulton became one of its most important cities. The city continued to grow until it reached its current size in the late 1800s. Today, Fulton is home to a number of cultural attractions including the renowned University of Missouri-Kansas City campus and several businesses such as Coca Cola Company and Philips Electronics Corporation.
Fulton was founded in 1836 by John Fulton and his brother Nicholas. They were the first to develop the idea of a steamboat service between Mobile, Alabama and Athens, Georgia. The company became successful and built many boats. The company closed in 1845.
