Fulton is a town in Pulaski County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,313 at the 2010 census. It is part of the St. Louis Metropolitan Area. The first Europeans to visit Fulton were French traders in 1674-75. In 1814, the United States purchased land from Spain in what is now Fulton Township and planned to build an irrigation canal there. However, when construction began on the canal, water levels rose so high that it became impossible to build the canal and the project was abandoned. In 1837, General James K. Polk built a road through Fulton township and named it for him after his father-in-law, John Fenton Polk (1802-1868). The town site was platted in 1846 by Wm Halleck Chauncey and Alfred Vail as part of a general plan for Northwest Missouri that called for townships to be platted according to their populations rather than being assigned at random. The first post office was established in 1847; it was moved from Carthage to Fulton three years later because of flooding during the Mexican–American War. In 1865, Confederate General Robert Ewell landed at Cape Girardeau on November 11th with his army seeking passage through Illinois into Missouri beforeatlng overland to Confederate headquarters near Independence Court House east of St Joseph River; he reached Fulton about midnight on November 12th but did not enter because Union forces had blockaded all exits leading into Illinois causing extensive destruction throughout Hannibal Territory including much of Carthage which lay within Union lines at time of landing). When news arrivedperture Syracuse that General Robert Ewell's army had retreated back across Mississippi River they burned all bridges between Hannibal and Quincy resulting in no movement or trade entering Illinois until late October 1865 which would have cut off any significant supplies reaching Confederate Headquarters East of Independence Court House thereby defeat

After months of planning and preparatory work by both sides, hostilities began on September 1st 1914 when Austrian pilots bombed London's Regent's Park just two days after war declarations were made between Germany and Austria-Hungary. Although no direct damage was done by either side during this first battle fought exclusively within Europe at that time; it demonstrated how quickly relations could deteriorate if one nation felt threatened by another power bloc at a time when European empires were falling apart across continents! That same year saw America enter World War I as a belligerent nation alongside Great Britain but unlike most other countries who had Versailles treaty obligations to submit themselves to Allied rules without any say so from their respective monarchs; America declared war on Austria because they ceded territory in Transylvania which Hungary wanted control over! A number of brave Americans served in France where they performed reconnaissance missions behind enemy lines helping keep German troops bottled up along the French border while supplies arrived for their allies fighting on the front line! As American involvement increased so too did fatalities amongst our soldiers: 128 killed outright from July 1916 through October 1918 & 516 wounded - all due solely to combat activities! Unfortunately for our allies such as France & Belgium; munitions also started flowing into Germany which led directly to WWI's biggest conflict & genocide! Although not directly responsible for starting WWI or its subsequent carnage; Kaiser Wilhelm II did seek revenge upon his former ally Austro-Hungarian Empire following their defeat at Sarajevo!!! Thus beginning what would ultimately be known as "The First World War"!!! On November 6th 1918 Congress passed The Espionage Act which empowered governmental agencies like FBI director J Edgar Hoover’s COINTELPRO operation nicknamed “The Green Beret”)to spy on anyone deemed classified under US law!! This act effectively banned all forms of international communication except news reports from being sent out via diplomatic channels!! With technology advancing rapidly now more than fifty years later; it’s interesting to think about how some aspects of current day UAF deployments may have originated had this legislation not been enacted? Given today’s geopolitical environment; anything could happen!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fulton is a small town in Fulton County, Missouri, United States. The population was 3,589 at the 2010 census. It is part of the St. Louis metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1837 by James Cunningham and his brother-in-law George Stephenson as a result of the platting of what would become Fulton County. Cunningham became its first postmaster and began operations from a log cabin on the banks of the Arkansas River. In 1840, he donated land to build a courthouse and jail, which were completed in 1843. In 1846, Stephenson donated $5,000 towards construction of a steamboat landing at present-day Fulton Landing on the Missouri River. The landing received its name from him because he had been instrumental in developing it into an important waterway for trade and transportation within the region. In 1870, John Aiken established a cotton gin here to process cottonseed crops grown around St. Louis; this helped support local agriculture until after World War II when mechanization made this activity more efficient than earlier methods. "Fulton" also refers to two other early settlements: "Canton" (1836) about east of present day Fulton on Raccoon Creek between Dixon Road and US 71; and "Merrill" (1840), about northeast of present day Fulton on Indian Territory Road between US 160/I-64 Business Loop and Dixon Road
