Ferguson, Missouri is a city in St. Louis County, Missouri, United States. Ferguson was established in 1837 as a small settlement on the east bank of the Mississippi River. The population was 929 at the 2010 census. It is named after General James K. Polk, who served as President of the United States from 1845 to 1849 and as Governor of Missouri from 1853 to 1861. The first Europeans to visit Ferguson were French fur traders in 1763. A trading post and mill were built by Jacques Marquette in 1768 on the confluence of the Vermilion and Potomac Rivers; it was abandoned in 1770 because of shortage of supplies brought overland by France's then-imperial empire. The first permanent American settlers arrived about 1800: John Dickey and his family from Kentucky landed on May 10, 1800; George Rogers Clark Landing Company from Virginia came four days later; David Thompson arrived three weeks later; Andrew Jackson disembarked on June 5 with his forces at Fort Necessity (now known as Emanuel). After Jackson's victory over Native Americans at Horseshoe Bend on August 15,1812, he called for volunteers to help him survey land grants which could be sold off into parcels large enough for white farmers to settle. On September 25,1812, Congress passed an act organizing Missouri Territory north of the Ohio River into what is now St. Louis County; this territory was divided coterminously with Arkansas Territory when that state seceded from Mexico in 1821 In 1830 Fenton Township west of downtown became part of Ferguson Township after being split off from Oakland Township east of town due to population growth thereabouts during that decade plus natural occurring soil resources near modern day Ferguson Boulevard (later I-57) location including significant coal deposits found just south/southwest along railroad tracks laid down in 1870soil production primarily petrochemical until recently . In addition much newer man-made subdivisions have been constructed within boundaries delineated by old mined intersections oil production has ceased or largely diminished making this once very prosperous area quite suburban today . Withdrawal or diminution thereof may account for some socio-economic changes since 2000s many people have moved away hoping for better economic prospects elsewhere within metro area mainly outside Loop City limits
The United States Air Force is a military organization which has been in existence since 1917. It was formed as the American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) during World War I, and later became the United States Air Force. The USAF operates through twelve Component Departments, each of which is headed by an officer with various powers and duties. The USAF traces its origins to 1917 when America entered World War I and activated the American Expeditionary Forces under General John J. Pershing as part of the Allied Powers. After being transferred to the United States Army in 1920, General Douglas MacArthur led Operation Overlord, resulting in Japan's surrender at Hiroshima; this event marked the end of World War I and opened up new fronts in Europe for American involvement. In 1947, Congress passed legislation creating the USAF as an independent service with headquarters located at Offutt AFB, Nebraska; however, this did not take effect until 1951 when Headquarters moved from Omaha to Langley AFB, Virginia. On 1 September 1947 President Harry Truman signed Executive Order 12667 which directed that all active duty members of both services be treated equally under Title 10 of US Code (the Uniform Code of Military Justice). On 17 October 1948 General Curtis LeMay declared war on Korea; this was followed by Operation Red Flag – a series of air campaign exercises conducted between 15 November 1948 and 14 December 1949 – which demonstrated US fighter ace Eddie Rickenbacker's claims that a nuclear attack by North Korea would trigger global destruction comparable to that experienced during World War II. As a result of these actions some 535 aircraft were lost or damaged during these two campaigns alone while 2 million people were injured or homeless due to air pollution caused by jet travel across Asia at that time. In 1950 Congress reactivated National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1951 (NDAA) which provided funds for purchases necessary for increased defense spending over $100 million per year; this action resulted in establishment of Missile Command under Air Force command effective 1 October 1951 while HQ remained at Offutt until 1 February 1957 when it moved again – this time to Heidelberg AFB Germany where it remains today as Wright-Patterson AFB Dayton OH]. This move was motivated by increasing Soviet activity in Europe following their victory over China in 1949 while also providing more space available for Nike missiles development at Langley AFB who had been operating from Greenville AB South Carolina since 1942 using leased facilities including Armstrong Field (later Goode AFB) on Nowhere Island GA]]. Overall approximately 4500 jobs were created within Headquarters units associated with missile programs[2][1] along with addition of 3000 civilians working within Missile Command directly responsible for operational support activities[3][4] making it one OF THE largest employment programs extant at any time within any armed force component apart from NATO counterpart!

Ferguson, Missouri is a city in St. Louis County, Missouri, United States. The population was 18,713 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Saint Louis metropolitan area. Ferguson has been an important cultural and economic center for much of its history. Ferguson traces its roots back to 1796 when French traders founded a fur trading post on the banks of the river known as Grosse Pointe Lacrosse (Large Point). This site later became known as Ferguson Heights and was within present-day St. Louis City limits until 1837 when it was annexed by Saint Louis County. The first white settlers arrived in 1840 and erected a cabin on what is now Holcombe Boulevard near Randolph Road (now County Highway K). A gristmill and road were built soon thereafter and named after General James Wilkinson, who had purchased land east of present-day Ferguson from the Osage Nation in 1841 for $3,000 ($ today). In 1845 General Wilkinson donated land surrounding his mill to form what would become Reid Park which still rests along Randolph Road today. The initial growth of Ferguson was due to agriculture with some small industry popping up during this time such as a foundry that produced cannons used by the Ulysses S Grant's army during the American Civil War; however most activity centered around farming until railroads came into town in 1865 and changed everything again; this brought new businesses such as meatpacking plants, breweries, hotels/motels etc., giving Ferguson its current commercial skyline including many large skyscrapers which have since been replaced or renovated by high-rise apartments or office buildings. In 1915 automobiles began to be available for purchase within city limits making Ferguson one of America's first "otorcycle capitals." With more than three thousand cars registered in 1916 alone Ford Motor Company moved their plant from Springfield Illinois to Ferguson in order to build a small car manufacturing plant; however due to World War I production ceased abruptly leaving town with only two workers at Ford’s facility while other factories located elsewhere continued producing cars without interruption. However even with these setbacks progress continued with plans for a new factory being announced in 1927 but never implemented until later that same year when Ford opened their own distribution center just outside town providing jobs for another two hundred people which led directly to Grand Avenue becoming known as "Fordtown". In 1941 Stroudsburg Steel Corporation established operations adjacent to Fordtown creating over four thousand jobs during that time period leading directly to downtown redevelopment including demolition of several blocks NE of Grand Avenue notable among them being P&O Bank Tower which remains extant today serving largely retail functions although portions have been leased out for use as office space or condos following recent conversions into residential dwellings called "The District" situated between First National Bank tower on one side and Interstate 35E on the opposite bank across from Parkwest Hospitality & Conference Center on North Lamar Street) In 1994 local developer Tom McNeely redeveloped extensively all around downtown including returning many streets formerly barren or rural into highly visible neighborhoods - currently dubbed "The District" - complete with streetlights and sidewalks throughout making it one ofStL's most liveable areas yet maintaining much affordable housing adjoining dozens if not hundreds if not thousands of single family homes dating back centuries
