In the early 1990s, Excelsior Springs experienced a rapid growth as an international tourist destination. As a result, many businesses opened up around town and began selling gourmet coffee again. This coincided with a new wave of American tourists who were looking for unique experiences abroad. As a result, many local businesses saw an opportunity to promote their own gourmet coffee products within their community by creating cafes or restaurants that served Ethiopian, Dutch & Swiss-made coffees together with traditional American dishes like burgers, pizza etcetera.
Excelsior Springs is a small town in Missouri. The population was 2,362 at the 2010 census. It is part of the St. Joseph City School District. The first settler in Excelsior Springs was Levi Morse in 1820. Morse built a log cabin on the site of his current home and named it after his brother, Jameson Morse. The first post office was established in 1825, and the town got its name from Excelsior Springs Creek, which flowed through it at that time. The first store was opened by Mrs. Jane Goodspeed in 1830. By 1840, there were nine stores and four shops in town with a population of about fifty people. In 1853, Jameson Morse died and bequeathed to the community hismlock lumber which had originally been collected from Canada for shipment to Illinois; this lumber helped build several homes within Excelsior Springs over the years including one currently owned by Driscoll family members and operated as a bed-and-breakfast hotel since 1933 known as "Morse Manor". Homes were also built around what is now Slaughter Road (now Westheimer Road), which served as an early commercial center because it led from downtown to miles of swampy land near modern day Excelsior Springs where lots could be bought for $5 per acre back then! Commerce flourished due to what amounted to railroad access just east of town on Route 66 – making it easy for goods to get delivered door-to-door without having to go all the way into St Joseph or Springfield! Excelsior Springs became an incorporated village on November 1, 1865 when many residents who lived along Routes 66 and 64 deselected themselves from their villages status rather than fight for incorporation again when they received new Town Hall building materials instead! On July 16th 1907 citizens voted 3-2 not to annex any other towns within our limits while keeping our unique features such as Village Hall & Schoolhouse etc.; we are still considered an “excelsior springs” community today! On January 9th 1915 President Woodrow Wilson announced plans for World War I; most everyone knew that war would come sooner or later so they didn't panic but local merchants quickly organized their tissues into committees providing food storage & shipping supplies etc.; soon some 15 businesses had donated enough money (& goods) to purchase 5 acres north of town adjacent to Phelps Dodge plant – becoming known as "Phelps' Farm". This area still remains today as "Excelsior Park" & offers extensive recreational opportunities includingSeveral golf courses nearby!! In 1924 Phelps Dodge merged with General Motors Corporation creating what is now GMC subsidiary American Trucking Company Ltd., giving rise new names like Mayflower Ford Auto Parts Co., PGM Engines Inc., Ace Hardware Incorporated (Ace Hardware Atrium) among others!!! With wars continuing throughout much of Europe & America both good & bad things were happening prices continued skyrocketing with manufacturing jobs moving overseas; however by 1970 production levels had leveled off& many companies had either closed down or moved out west!! Most recently Kiewit Mining has reopened here after 20 years!!!!! So many changes have occurred here over these past few centuries I don't even know where TO begin!!!!

Excelsior Springs is a census-designated place in St. Francois County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,728 at the 2010 census. Excelsior Springs is part of the Kansas City Metropolitan Area. The community began as a trading post on the Verdigris River in 1836 and was named after Excelsior Township in Holland County, Michigan. In 1857, John Wills founded an agricultural colony here called "Dakota" after his Dakota Territory Land Plantation near present day Fargo, North Dakota. The name for the settlement changed to "Excelsior Springs" in 1862 when it became apparent that there were no other settlements close by with similar names. It was not until 1865 that residents voted to change the name to "St. Francois County", after Saint François Xavier Marquette University which had been established nearby in that year. The first post office opened at Excelsiorspring on April 15, 1837; it continued operation until May 3, 1886. A school started teaching in Excelsior Springs in 1842 and served students from three different towns: Dakota (now Fargo), Stroudsburg (now West Helena), and Unity (now Overland Park). In 1861, voters approved a local fire department and village hall; construction began soon thereafter and finished five years later on October 28th of that year - this building still stands today as one of only two remaining buildings from the original village hall complex which also included a grocery store/inn/counselor's office/library/theatre/ballroom which can be accessed through an open front door dating back to 1870-71! In 1893-94 during the great Omaha stock market crash known as 'The Panic of 1893', many small banks collapsed across Missouri due to over speculation during what was then still considered an early stage of economic development; most notably Excelsior Springs' First National Bank which went out of business entirely within months following the crash including all its assets valued at more than $25000USD! A new shopping center called 'The mall' opened along I-635 South approximately 1 mile west of downtown St Francois County on July 6th 1999 adjacent to Interstate 70 just south of Big Spring Road outside St Francisville MO - this project replaced what had been an old quarry used primarily for residential development since 1966 !
