Crestwood is a town in Johnson County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,826 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. The first residents of Crestwood were a party of six young men who came west to start over in 1847. They named their new settlement after their old home in England, Crestwood Hall. In 1850, the people of Crestwood united with the community of Carthage to form the first municipal government in Johnson County. The first post office was established in Crestwood on December 12, 1850. In 1854, when Territorial laws took effect through Kansas Territory and Johnson County became a county within that territory, crestwood had a population of only twenty-one people. However by 1865 it had grown to over one hundred people due to natural growth and immigration from Illinois and other parts of the Midwest. The first school in Crestwood was built on what is now East Main Street in 1859 by teacher Amos Sells and his wife Lucy Pecoraro Sells with funds raised from local subscribers. According to one story, Mrs. Sells found an old log building which she repaired into a schoolhouse; however another account claims that she simply dug a deep well near her house and used its water supply as the foundation for her schoolhouse before erecting it from scratch using adobe bricks from nearby Mexico Park (now known as Old Mexico Park). In 1865 – 66 there were three schools in town: one for boys on North Main Street (later renamed East Main Street), one for girls on South Main Street (later renamed West Main Street), and one taught by private teachers until 1870 when government schools opened up throughout Johnson County In 1861 two brothers - John Alder and Ebenezer Haines - founded an agricultural company called J & E Ackerly Brothers Grain Mill which grew into one of America's largest grain millers early 20th century

Crestwood, Missouri is a small town located in the Ozarks of southern Missouri. The population was 5,851 at the 2010 census. Crestwood was founded in 1871 by brothers Samuel and Elijah Crestwood. It became a town in 1907. In 1938, Crestwood had 1,000 residents and it merged with Florissant to form a new city. The merger was controversial because Florissant voters did not want to merge with another large city that they felt would dilute their identity as a separate community. Crestwood has experienced several changes over its history. At the time of its founding, Crestwood consisted of only a few homes and barns on the edge of an agricultural field used for growing corn and other vegetables. By 1907, however, Crestwood had developed into a busy small town with several stores, churches, schools and businesses. During World War II, when the country was invaded by Axis forces, many people from Crestwood served in the military or worked on farms while others were mobilized to help build roads and bridges across riversand other obstacles. After the war ended, many people returned to their original homes while others moved into larger dwellings in nearby communities such as Florissant or Emporia (now Kansas City). In 1938, when crestwood merged with Florissant to form a new city there were 1,000 residents living in both towns combined- this number decreased after some aspects ofFlorissant's culture - such as its high school football team - transferred to crestwoodskull High School during this period
