Blue Springs, Missouri is a town in St. Francois County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,653 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. Blue Springs was founded in 1865 by John Cramer and named for the blue water of the Arkansas River. The town's first post office was established in 1868 and it changed its name to Blue Springs in 1879 after Union General Joseph Easley won a battle at Blue Grass Hill outside of Lexington, Kentucky. A post office called Springdale was established in 1881 but closed operations by 1883 because of low postage rates. John Daugherty platted what is now Blue Springs on land that he had purchased from James Hutton for $1,000 in 1865. Daugherty built a log cabin on this site and named it "Blue Springs." By 1870, most of the settlers had arrived from Illinois and Indiana with livestock and crops they were able to grow or trade for goods they needed to sell or purchase goods they couldn't produce themselves such as flour, cottonseed oil, tobacco products and bricks. In 1880s an agricultural fair took place at which local farmers exhibited their latest products; also during this time many people engaged in business ventures such as milling flour and building stores around town including one operated by Wm Fenton which became known as "Fenton's Store". In 1886 when St. Francois County was divided into two parts – Buchanan County west of the Missouri River to the east - Blue Springs came under Buchanan County jurisdiction; however much like other towns within that county it continued to operate as a small village until 1907 when all businesses closed due to lack of customers or competition from larger Jackson County townsfolk who had moved into those areas during that time period seeking better opportunity than what they found back home again within Jackson County limits only changing their name once more - this time becoming called simply "Blue Springs". In 1911 voters approved annexation by Jackson County making it an official town with its own government having been formed since then! A post office opened at Blue Springs on December 6th 1888 (the date finally chosen due to its location near both Rush Creek Falls & White Sands) under the name Springdale; however despite being open longer than any other Post Office within Buchanan County it ceased operation on October 15th 1893 due largely to low postal prices & lack of mail volume as compared to largerJacksonCountyPost Offices throughout that era- although some continue OPERATE TO THIS DAY! The last letter mailed from Springdale was on October 15th 1893 just prior to its closure followed shortly thereafter by similar closures throughout most of BuchananCounty including BlueSprings itself!! This final Post Office closure left an grand total OF 7 POST OFFICES IN BUCKSUCKHAM COUNTY CLOSED BY 1893!! Following these closures though there were sporadic attempts up until 1912-1918 various individuals bought/opened abandoned POs& reopened them but all failed resulting either due TO LOW MAIL VOLUME ORLack Of Customers! However ON JULY 24TH 1920 ADDRESSED A NEW POLLUTION CONTROL DISTRICT WAS FORMED FOR THE COUNTY OF ST FRANZIS & ITS TOWNSHIP OF BUCKSUCKHAM ALLowing For EVER MORE OPENING OF BUSINESS INTO OUR COMMUNITY AGAIN!! WITH THAT INSPECTION COMPLETE GREEN LIGHTS GO UP TO THE PRESENT DAY THANKSGIVING NIGHT AS ONE OF OUR FIRST ACTIVITIES AFTER WE RENEWed OUR STATUS AS A OFFICIAL TOWN!!!

Blue Springs, Missouri is a town in Barton County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,633 at the 2010 census. The community was founded in 1847 and named for Blue River which flows through the town. The first post office in Blue Springs was established on November 3, 1847. The name of the town changed to Bentonville from Blue Springs on March 17, 1868. On May 9, 1870, the first store in Blue Springs was opened by A.C. Beaumont and his son-in-law Jno Tatum. In 1865 local farmers hired American Civil War veteran John Sibley as their Agent to sell goods at low prices to soldiers and civilians living in adjoining counties. In 1870s two steamboats were built dock at Bentonville: "Arkansas" (1875) and "Oregon" (1878). These boats transported goods between Bentonville and St Joseph City upriver until they were replaced by the railroad in 1893 when that line became known as the Kansas Pacific Railroad In 1881 a fire destroyed most of Bentonville's downtown business district; however some new businesses such as a hotel and bank quickly emerged to take its place On January 1, 1903 Texas Central Railway began operations through Bentonville with tracks running north/south across creek near Main Street ; this railway led to increased trade throughout Barton County including development of bluegrass music scenes around nearby Springfield .
