Blue Springs, Missouri is a small town in Jackson County, Missouri. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield, MO-IL Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Blue Springs School District serves students from pre-kindergarten to eighth grade. The first settlers in what is now Blue Springs were Methodist missionaries who came in 1837. A post office was established here in 1845 and remained in operation until 1893. The present day community was platted on December 2, 1906 by C. Fenton Beal with the name Blue Spring after the deep blue sky that can be seen from many parts of town. The first businesses in Blue Springs were a general store and a hotel which opened in 1907. In 1912 the first school opened and soon became an important factor in keeping Blue Springs isolated from other towns near by during those early days of post office service and telephone service hereabouts! In 1916 local residents banded together to form their own militia to help protect them from outlaws roaming the area during World War I (the war to end all wars). And so it goes today with our very own military detachment stationed here as part of Jax Army National Guard unit! Today’s economy largely revolves around farming activities such as raising poultry, grains, corn, soybeans, etc., although there are also some small business ventures underway within this rapidly growing community which has seen increasing development over time – one example being Soo Line Railroad’s new depot just outside town Limits recently completed following years of planning and construction!

Blue Springs is a small town in Boone County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,571 at the 2010 census. Blue Springs was founded in 1836 by Capt. John H. Barnes and his family as a wagon stop on the Arkansas River. The town became a post office in 1838 and a railroad station in 1847. In 1865, the Union Pacific Railroad built a line from St Louis to this area and renamed it "Blue Spring". The original tracks were still present until they were dismantled in the early 1970s. The first store opened in Blue Springs on December 17, 1836 by Capt John H Barnes with two stores owned by himself and three others around him: James Coker (a blacksmith), Simon Fuller (a justice of the peace) and William Troup (the postmaster). A third store was built about 1850 but failed due to low sales despite being advertised for $3 per week when it opened. The first school open for white students was also located here; it was called “Fulton” School which had been started as an infants’ school in 1840 by Mrs Haggerty before becoming known as Academy of Greenville where local farmers could send their children to learn Sunday morning services while they grew crops or worked on their land out of school hours. For many years after that education opportunities were available only to white children while Indian boarding schools offered similar education to Native Americans up until Removal during the mid 1800s when these programs ended.. In 1872, Blue Springs had one grocery store, five blacksmith shops, six saddleries/butchers shops, ten carriage workshops and thirty-six vehicle workshops besides farm production including twenty-eight horses; all but four of these businesses closed within 10 years except for one which reopened about 1900 with blueprints from American Carriage Works Incorporated.. A second post office followed suit named “Hutchinson” on July 21st 1870 after Wm Hutchison who served as Postmaster from 1861-1865 then again from 1875-1879 before he resigned because he couldn't find an appropriate location for his new office since there wasn't much growth here due to lack of transportation or other factors.. In 1912 Big Momma bought two lots next door to her house so that she could build more than one home at once! When she died in 1927 her husband took over running his widow's business until she passed away 2 years later leaving him with her entire assets plus any property left behind including Overlook Motel which is now known as the Hutchinson Place Marketplace development operated by Midwestern Hotel Group LLC dba Midwestern Place Development Incorporation
