In 1957, after years of discussion between the Hardin County Board of Commissioners and community members, Bellefontaine Village was incorporated into the town limits of Bellefontaine Neighbors as a way to keep residents connected while they awaited development within the larger town boundaries. Bellefontaine Neighbors has several businesses that have been around since before incorporation including: KFC, Pizza Hut, Jiffy Lube and gas stations Chevron and Valero. From 2002 until 2007 there also was an elementary school called Parkview Elementary which served students from kindergarten through eighth grade along with Brittney Middle School which served grades 9-12 until 2013 when it merged with Parkview High School to form one large school district encompassing all three schools within Bellefontain Neighbors borders; this change resulted in the closure of Parkview Elementary effective September 1st 2007 due to lack of enrollment opportunity at both schools combined (the high school remained open but did not offer any classes).
