By 1934, The Coffee Shop had been renamed The Arnie's Cafeteria and it quickly became one of the most popular businesses in town. In 1951, The Coffee Shop was purchased by Mr. and Mrs. Harry J. Hinson and changed its name to Arnold's Coffee House. In 1957, the business was again purchased by Mr. and Mrs. Harry J. Hinson and again changed its name to Arnold's Cafeteria Incorporated (ACI). ACI continued to operate as a popular restaurant until it closed its doors in 1984 due to budgetary restrictions placed on them by the city of Arnold. The history of Tactical Coffee has not been forgotten however – since 1984, there have been several attempts by individuals or businesses to reopen the business under a new name or banner with little success so far. In 1990, Tactical Coffee reopened at 4202 N Main Street under the new name "Arnold's Cafe" but quickly shut down due to low customer turnout despite multiple advertising campaigns targeting potential customers over the phone and online postings from employees about upcoming specials etc.. That year the Post Office Department changed its name to Arnold Post Office because there were already two other post offices in that name in nearby towns such as Redford and Independence. In 1893 the community burned down due to an accidental fire when a group of men went to load hay into their wagon for transport home; they left open a barrel of gasoline near the fire which caused it to spread rapidly. Twenty-six people died as a result of the fire and some seventy-five were injured. In 1907 Arnold again lost its status as a smalltown when Highway 36 became U Street; however, thanks to Hardestywood Dam (originally called Ziegfeld Dam), residents continued to rely on irrigation water for their needs until about 1965. Finally giving up hope of ever recovering its former glory days, Arnold disbanded its incorporation papers on December 1st 1973 just three weeks after becoming part of Nixon Township under jurisdiction of City Center Township vowing never again "to be associated with any political subdivision within this township."

By 1960, Arnold had reached its current size with a population of 1,812 people.
