Paula Henson was born in Jackson, Mississippi but raised in Meridian before moving to Tupelo when she married John Henson in 1978. Together they ran Maga until her death in 2000; he continued business until his death three years later. John Henson is buried at Greenwood Cemetery near where he founded Maga Coffee Company. The company operated out of a small office on First Avenue south side until it relocated across town into what is now known as 1865 Market Place – which once housed The Gilded Cage Cage Theatre (now called The Palace). In 1984 they opened their second store at 601 11th St., southeast corner of Elmwood Drive adjacent to Soapbox Social Club; this store closed two years later due to financial problems caused by competition from larger grocery stores within walking distance from their location!
