In 1916, Mr. Edward Ahern bought out John Stephenson’s shares and ran the business alone until his death in 1951. After Mr. Ahern’s death, his son-in-law took over management of the business until 1974 when it was sold to Joe Sweeney who ran it for twenty-nine years before selling it to Harry Brower in 1984 who kept it running as an independent roaster until 2003 when it changed hands again and was purchased by Ali Hassan al Fayed who operates it today as a corporate entity known as Coffee One Media Corporation Today’s fresh roasted coffee is sourced from two different farms located about an hour south of Starkville on Highway 66 called “The Grist Mill Farm” and “The Coffee Mill Farm” respectively Both farms are dedicated to sustainable practices which include using organic produce whenever possible along with special attention given to developing better Ghost TM bean strains that have high quality flavor profiles The Grist Mill Farm has been growing Arabica beans since 1957 while The Coffee Mill Farm has beenharvesting Robusta beans since 1971 Arabica beans have a longer shelf life than Robusta beans so they are typically shipped directly from where they were grown rather than going through a mill Atherton Mills has been providing world-class fresh roasted coffee since 1978 while Memphis Coffee Roasters is managed by brothers Bob & Larry Weiser who own & operate three locations across Tennessee including one in Knoxville Bob Weiser is also responsible for development at both The Coffee Mill Farm (2007) and Atherton Mills (2013) which continues their long standing partnership

He purchased 8 acres of land east of Mobile Bay on which he built his home – called “John’s House” today – and began farming what is now known as East Jackson County.2 Captain John Stark played an important role in developing East Jackson County during the early years of its development because he was able to provide essential goods and services such as transportation through his wagon train route from Mobile Bay across Tennessee to Athens at the mouth of Yazoo River where he sold goods before heading back downriver again across Arkansas towards Memphis).3 In 1819, when Mississippi became part of Alabama under General Andrew Johnson’s rule following their victory over Confederate forces at Appomattox Court house, many people left for Georgia or Texas due to political instability within Alabama (due primarily to Governor Crawford’s efforts).4 However, Captain John Starnes refused to leave his home countrybehind and established himself permanently in East Jackson County where he continued farming until his death some twenty-five years later5 By 1850 however, fewer people lived in East Jackson County than did live anywhere else within Alabama; this is likely due primarily to plantation slavery which increased throughout muchofthe south during that period6 .7 As cotton production decreased throughout muchofthe south beginning in earnest after 1835 (due largely to climate changes)8 ,9 African Americans began migrating from plantations all over southern America looking for new opportunities outside their homes10 .11 Consequently, by 1870 only about 12 percent of all residents living withinEast Jackson County were Africans American12 .13
