"Butch" French and his wife, Cissy, on a small lot near the local high school. In the late 1970s, Dutch Bros. Coffee purchased Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf from J.B. "Butch" French and his wife, Cissy French-Andersen. Dutch Bros.' goal was to provide an excellent cup of coffee for all occasions at their store across town from Southaven High School. Through the years, Dutch Bros.' coffee has received praise from both locals and tourists alike for its unique flavor profile and deliciousness. The business has been able to keep up with changes in the industry by constantly expanding its product line as well as growing its customer base through online ordering options as well as in-store visits. Southaven is a town in Hinds County, Mississippi, United States. The population was 9,971 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Hinds County. The first white person to settle in Southaven was Capt. James Hogg, who built his home on what is now Elm Street in 1817. Captain Hogg and his wife were the first white people to come into this area and they founded a small settlement known as "Hindsborough". In 1821, Capt. John Hogg sold land in Southaven to Major General Nathan Bedford Forrest for $1,000 cash. The following year saw another early settler arrive when Solomon White purchased two lots near present-day US-90 and Main Streets from Capt. John Hogg for $500 each. This second group included many Scots-Irish immigrants who had come overland from Scotland during the American Revolution. In 1830 Drury erected a schoolhouse on what is now Pryor Avenue which served as the community's primary education center until it was replaced by Hinds Community College in 1951. At that time, Southaven also became home to one of Mississippi's first black towns - Maple Grove - which had been established by freedmen of Natchez Trace Company villeinage leaseholders in Jackson County in 1865 after their emancipation from slavery there (see Maple Grove Settlement). In 1886 Jno.[?] Watson opened up what would become one of America's first enclosed shopping districts with 12 stores selling groceries directly to consumers inside large brick warehouses located along US- 90 south of town limits; these warehouses are still extant today as part of the downtown district known as "Watsonville". However, although Jno.[?] Watson started out as an entrepreneur with significant success launched a number of other businesses within Mississippian economy before he too passed away at age 85 years old followed by his son Fenton Welch Watson Jr., namesake and current owner/operator/director of JNo.[?] Watson Enterprises Incorporated since 1978 which operates approximately 150 retail locations across Midwest including 5 gasoline stations dotting both sides of I-10 just outside Memphis TN) most recently having relocated its headquarter operations (Gulfport MS) from Biloxi Ms to Dyersburg Ms where it plans to open a new Headquarters soon announced plans for more than 650 jobs there alone!

In 1871, the town of Southaven was platted and named in honor of Confederate General P.G.T. Beauregard. The town originally consisted of only a few homes and a small store. By 1881, the population had increased to about 100 people and the town began to develop into a small community with its own businesses and schools. In 1912, Southaven became an incorporated municipality with a mayor and four commissioners. In 1930, Southaven suffered from both natural disasters and World War II, which caused many damage and loss of life. However, after the war ended in 1945, Southaven slowly recovered until it reached its current level of prosperity in the late 1990s.
