The Marine Corps Deployment Gift History is a long and detailed history of Marines who have deployed to various parts of the world. The tradition began in Ridgeland, Mississippi during World War II when Marines from Fort Polk shipped gift baskets full of food, cigarettes, and other supplies to soldiers in the war effort. Since the end of World War II, marines have been deployed to various parts of the world in order to assist in various conflicts. Some marines who have served are considered heroes, and others received mixed reviews for their actions. However, one marine who has always been praised is Marine Lance Corporal Nicholas “Nicky” Canova. Canova was born on October 24th, 1990, in Rome, Italy. He joined the Marines at the age of 20 and served until he was honorably discharged in May 2014. A few months after his discharge, Canova was deployed to Afghanistan as part of Operation Neptune’s Spear. During his deployment he suffered a severe injury that left him with aphasia. Nevertheless, he continued serving as an infantryman and helped lead his unit to victory against the Taliban. After his return from Afghanistan, Canova decided to pursue a career in law enforcement. He started out as a detective sergeant before being promoted to lieutenant and then captain. In December 2017, Canova was appointed commander of Marine Air Wing Three which is located at Kings Bay Naval Station in Georgia. Under his command, MW3 became one of the most successful wings withinmarine aviation history by winning several awards including two VMASO Awards for Excellence in Aircraft Maintenance and Operations (Eco-D) during fiscal year 2018 alone! In addition to this success, Canova also won Great Lakes Defense Award which recognizes excellence across all military services within Great Lakes Region for Fiscal Year 2019!

Ridgeland is a small town in Jackson, Mississippi. It has been mentioned in books like If Beale Street Could Talk and Dear Mr. Kipper. The population of Ridgeland was 7,845 at the 2010 census. In 1892, Ridgeland's post office was renamed for General Winfield Scott Hancock. The town had a population of about 100 people when it was founded in 1892. In 1905, the first public school opened in Ridgeland and it served grades one through six. In 1912, the first grocery store opened in Ridgeland and it operated until 1978. In 1916, the first church was built in Ridgeland and it remains operational today. The only other building from that time is an old mill which now serves as a museum. In 1948, Ridgeland became part of Jackson Township and its local government changed from rural to urban status. By 1957, the number of residents had increased to 11,513 and by 1990 their populations reached over 20,000 with 4 high schools located within Ridgeland limits: Booker T Washington High School (1948-present), Harrison Technical High School (1949-present), Ridgeview Middle/High School (1964-present), and Northeast Mississippi Community College (1965-present). The Rigdon County Sheriff's Department detachment has been based at Ridgeland since 1946 which provides law enforcement services to all Jackson Township residents as well as surrounding counties including Rankin County to the east via satellite TV remote control Dispatch No.: 812-.

They also serve as a way to show appreciation for years of service and support from people who care about them. 2nd Lt Christopher Jansen served his country during Operation Neptune's Spear while deployed to Afghanistan in 2009 Christopher Jansen was deployed aboard USS Mount Whitney (LHD-7) when he experienced what can only be described as mission sabotage against coalition forces operating near her port facilities in Kandahar Province on 28 October 2009 Operation Neptune's Spear began on 25 October 2009 when UPDF insurgents attacked coalition forces conducting convoy operations north of Zabul City according to NATO reporting The attack killed at least 15 personnel including 5 marines The resultant damage led Admiral Mullen Jr., Commander Naval Forces Southern Asia said "If it wasn't for heroism by our sailors [and] aircrews working diligently under very challenging conditions we would not have been able to provide essential logistical assistance" A total of $1 million was donated by various businesses throughout America towards reconstruction efforts following Operation Neptune's Spear

Ridgeland is a town in Hancock County, Mississippi, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. Ridgeland was founded in 1881 by men from Tennessee as a small cattle and potato ranch. It became an agricultural center with cotton plantations and a large livestock market. The town's first store opened in 1886. In 1907 Ridgeland became the county seat of Hancock County after being chosen by the people of the community. A courthouse and jail were built in 1907 and 1922 respectively, but they are no longer standing due to vandalism or fire. Today, Ridgeland is primarily known for its annual Cotton Festival which takes place in late October or early November each year.
