Ridgeland is a city in Mississippi and the county seat of Clark County. The population was 12,581 at the 2010 census. Ridgeland is located in the central part of the state on the banks of the Pearl River, about 25 miles (40 km) west of Jackson and 50 miles (80 km) east of Memphis. The first known permanent settler in what is now Ridgeland was John Stephenson, who arrived around 1799. He built a small cabin on a bluff overlooking the Pearl River. Over time, other settlers followed Stephenson and began to arrive, most notably Andrew Johnson in 1814. Johnson had come from nearby Uniontown and saw an opportunity to farm land that would be accessible by wagon road from Jackson. By 1830, Ridgeland had become an important community with a store, school house, church, blacksmith shop and two houses for its citizens. In 1829–30 surveyors laid outClark County according to Indian Territory borders then existing; this included Ridgeland within it as well as parts of Starkville and Tupelo counties north of Clarksville Ridgeland soon became one of Mississippi's most important communities for cotton culture due to its fertile soil and access to water resources which allowed for intensive farming operations In 1841–42 Mississippians raised their first white child when Anna Healy brought her daughter Mary into town after escaping domestic violence at her family's home in Virginia In 1865 General Robert Ewell's Confederate army burned all but one block of downtown Jackson while retreating from Sumter; this destroyed much infrastructure including churches and schools that were then rebuilt using local labor In 1870s oil wells were drilled near Ridgeland providing fuel for local businesses; however these sites also produced wastewater which caused water quality problems until they were cleaned up in the late 1990s The area around Ridgeland has been called "The Arsenal" because it has been home to many notable companies such as Hormel Foods Corporation since early 20th century

The Directorate of Aeronautics (DAA) also developed air traffic control systems and munitions research. In 1947, the DAA was merged with the USAF to form the Directorate of Military Aeronautics (DMA). This gave rise to a newAAF unit: The Tactical Air Command (TAC). In 1954, TAC became operational as an autonomous command subordinate only to Headquarters USAF. From this time forward, gifts from private citizens were not authorized under IFF regulations set by Headquarters USAF. This changed on October 10, 1958 when Headquarters USAF announced that it would establish a special fund called the "Gift Program for Military Aviation." This program allowed individuals to give money or goods in any amount not exceeding $1 million per year to support military aviation within TAC. Since its establishment, the "Gift Program for Military Aviation" has been one of America's most popular gifts program. In 1980 alone, donations totaling $6 billion were made through this initiative. Today, there are more than 20 different programs operated by civilian and military partners across 10 countries worldwide.

Ridgeland is a town in southwestern Mississippi, United States. The population was 10,868 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Marshall County. The name Ridgeland comes from "Ridge" and "Land", and refers to the ridges of mountains that surround it on three sides. The first inhabitants of what is now Ridgeland were Paleo-Indians who hunted and gathered resources near the present day city limits in the 18th century. In 1795, Spanish explorer Hernando De Soto passed through this area on his way to find new land west of Mexico City. He named a hill in Ridgeland Hills after General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, Marqués de la Vega y Pavón, leader of Spanish forces in Texas during the Alamo Rebellion (1836). The first white settlement was established by Andrew Jackson when he became president of the United States in 1828 as part of his victory over Andrew Johnson in the presidential election that year. Jackson ordered construction of a military road to bleed off British troops besieging New Orleans so that Ulysses S. Grant could take control over that city during its siege by Confederate forces under Jefferson Davis. A small community developed around Jackson's home called Gadsden Landing which served as an early supply stop for travelers along this road.
