Navy deployed gift history in Picayune, Mississippi dates back to the early 1800s. In 1833, the United States Navy sent a detachment of sailors to Picayune in search of treasure. The sailors found and explored some valuable Spanish artifacts at the local fort. Some of this treasure was brought back with the navy detachment and stored at Fort Donelson in Nashville, Tennessee. In 1848, General Andrew Jackson gave command of the Mobile Army Corps to Commodore John Farragut. Commodore Farragut ordered his ships to leave Mobile for the Gulf of Mexico and explore new shipping routes. One of these new routes led to Picayune. On December 12, 1848, Admiral James Kapp sailed his flagship USS Constitution into town harbor for an official visit by Commodore Farragut and Mayor John Capps. A large number of citizens came out to greet Admiral Kapp and “The Oldest Citizen” as he called Governor Smith (Capps). During their stay in town, Commodore Farragut met Mrs. Jno., who later became Mrs. Laddie Boggs (Farragut). They also visited several shops before leaving for Pensacola on December 15th where they hosted a dinner for dignitaries from New Orleans including Judge Advocate General Sterling Price and Ulysses S Grant (then Secretary of War). After their visit to Picayune, Admiral Kapp returned home on USS Constitution on December 20th via riverboat from Pensacola Landing upstream at Sunnyside plantation where he disembarked with his family members including Mrs. Kapp’s two daughters: Maybelle and Anna Pugh Key Healey; Mary Ann Healey; Broderick Key Stroud; Isabella Key Stroud; Josephine Key Healey born 1840 married 1860 Daniel Stuart Wickerham) On board USS Constitution were Minister Plummer (from England), Captain Kittrell (of HMS Norfolk), Lieutenant Commander Poston USNR age 26 son-in-law of Rear Admiral George Washington Poston USNR died 1862 aged 43 Naval Reserve officer killed 1865 Streetcar conductor assassinated 1865 by white men just outside city limits near Fort Sumter

Navy deployments are a common occurrence in the military. They allow service members to be away from home for a short period of time, and give them the opportunity to learn new skills and meet new people. This can be an excellent way for servicemen and women to grow close with others, as well as experience different cultures. Some gifts that may be suitable for a navy deployed person are books about the navy or other military branches, snacks such as Doritos oriments or theater-style popcorn, games like Monopoly or Yahtzee, and items that will help the serviceman relax such as yoga mats or relaxation headsets. It is important to make sure that the gift is something that the soldier will enjoy using while they're away, as this could make all the difference in their return home.

The USS Constitution, a Monitor-class battleship was decommissioned in early 1864 and converted into a drydock at Picayune. In 1865, Confederate General Robert E. Lee ordered the ship's crew to be armed with pistols and revolvers in order to deter any possible Union forces from attacking. The ship remained at Picayune until 1868 when it was transferred to Mobile Bay for repairs. The ship returned to service in 1870 and served as the flagship of Commodore John Lubbock's squadron during the American Civil War. After the war, the Constitution decommissioned again and was sold for scrap metal in 1875.

Picayune is a small town in the U.S. state of Mississippi. It is part of the Jackson metropolitan area and lies on the banks of the Yazoo River, about 25 miles (40 kilometers) east of Jackson. The United States Navy has been deploying gift items for years, but the modern navy gift history began in the early 21st century when the navy decided to start giving away boats and otherautical equipment. This started with a small number of Vessels (boats) given to sailors as part of naval tradition, and grew over time into a larger program that gave away more than 20,000 items between 1941 and 1945. One of the most famous Navy gifts was The USS Constitution Museum Shipwreck Exhibit which was donated by Vice President Richard Nixon in 1974. The exhibit contained artifacts from the Constitution Museum in Philadelphia which had been lost in a storm on December 15th, 1971. The donation helped bring attention to boat restoration projects that were being done at this time on various vessels around the country. Since then, many different types of navies have sent their fleets or ships overseas for gifting purposes; some examples are: There are several reasons why navy gift histories can be so interesting and unique. One reason is because it often provides insight into how different militaries view gifts as well as how they interact with each other across Eurasia. Another reason is because it provides an opportunity to learn about how different individuals or groups within the military have chosen to give back to society through their actions or donations. Additionally, there is often something special about donating something you know personally involved with your unit or shipmates who served during wartime periods such as World War II, Korea, Vietnam etcetera.

Picayune, Mississippi is a town in Jackson, Mississippi. The population was 21,694 at the 2010 census. It is the largest town in Jackson by population and it is also the most populous city in Jackson County. The name of Picayune means "clear water" or "pool of water." A small creek flows through the downtown core. Picayune began as a plantation community on Little River east of what is now Picayune City. In 1853, General James Wilkinson decided to build a new army post here and named it for his home state of Louisiana: Wilkinson Post No. 1 (later Picayune). By 1871, however, Wilkinson had sold his share in the post to Nathan Bedford Forrest and renamed it Fort Hindman after himself and two friends from Tennessee who had come to help him purchase land here: Nathaniel Bedford Forrest (1821-1901) and John Franklin Stroud (1827-1900). Fort Hindman became one of Mississippi's first black towns when it was established December 17, 1870 within limits set by white Mississippians seeking to exclude all blacks from their midst despite their equal rights under the law. In 1865 General Andy Johnson ordered Sherman's forces moving southward along I-10 towards Mobile Bay after learning that Union forces were attempting to occupy Vicksburg—the capital of Mississippi—and transfer its Confederate defenders there. Highway 41A leading northeast out of Jackson passed through present day Picayune on its way into Mobile County before intersecting US 82 just north of where modern day Parkersburg stands today. Legend has it that General Johnston's carousing night aboard his flagship USS Cairo while en route from Meridian via Pensacola Island led him to believe he could march into Mobile without opposition should he find everything he desired there without having first destroyed any key Union installations along Interstate 10 instead; consequently he allowed military units commanders associated with Major Thomas Ewing ('Teddy') Pettigrew ('Pete'), commanderof First Brigade Army Corps Area Command 9th Infantry Division stationed at Tupelo Barracks northwest of Meridian - which included elements commanded by Majors George Armstrong Custer (7th Cavalry Regiment) Hector '(Hico') Hinson(2nd Infantry Regiment) Isaac Newton Milligan(1st Armored Cavalry Regiment) - latitude not given - unloading supplies at anchor off Cape Lookout Light House until they arrived only days later without putting an end to hostilities between Confederate States Forces & Union Armies near Gulfport On July 4 1865 Jubal Early attacked Federal troops near Cape Lookout Light House during skirmish called Battle Of Chickasaw National Monument With over 30 killed Including 2 Generals including Early himself Over 400 Casualties On July 6 1865 about sunset early during skirmish called Battle Of Selma Moor Field With 3 officers dead Including Lieutenant Colonel William Taney(2nd Battalion 5th Infantry Regiment), Captain Joseph Wheeler(3rd Battalion 5th Infantry Regiment), Private Augustus Berryhill.(24 Hour Company A United States Colored Troops Arkansas State Militia Also Participating In This Scandalous Event At Which Whites Killed Negroes And Their Property Was seized)) picayaunesidempire
