Ocean Springs, Mississippi is a town in the U.S. state of Mississippi. The population was 5,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jackson metropolitan area. As of the 2000 census[1], Ocean Springs had a total population of 10,527 and 9,554 in 2009.[2] The town was founded in 1871 by German immigrants on the Caney River near its present location. The community took its name from Oceans Inlet on the Gulf of Mexico where tidal water recedes during low tide to form an open-air swimming beach which served as a landing point for early settlers who journeyed downriver to claim new land northeast of Mobile Bay.[3] The first post office was established in 1872, and named Forgan after Captured George Forgan (a local white man), one of three founders of Ocean Springs Township Incorporated on November 3, 1871; Captain John Murchison (a military officer) being second and Drayton Waddell (Lieutenant Colonel United States Volunteers) third. In 1924, Ocean Springs became one of five towns operating under then-new Federal recognition program known as FHA Subsidies which were designed to stimulate agricultural production throughout rural America by providing support for home builders through loans and other assistance while encouraging commercial development. At that time only Arkansas and Kentucky were participants in this new program with neighboring Tellico Hills also participating at that time . A year later Alabama joined with Mississippi to become another stateParticipating States were Arkansas (January 1, 1925), Alabama (January 1, 1926), Louisiana (May 15, 1927), Oklahoma Territory (October 14th 1928), and Texas on December 15th 1929). African Americans began moving into Ocean Springs beginning in earnest during World War II as it became increasingly racially segregated across much southern America due to wartime efforts by both Allies and Axis forces alike - an effort that ultimately failed because racial segregation continued until well after hostilities ended. After World War II ended integration slowly but surely began spreading throughout various southeastern U S cities such as Jackson where African American families had moved since then primarily seeking economic opportunity Although some remained behind in their original communities they gradually started integrating over time into mainstream society leaving little physical evidence remaining from their initial integration efforts Some living quarters still remain segregated today however those residing within walking distance or less generally receive integrated services without complaint

The first espresso machine was designed by Giovanni Battista Breda in 1795 and became popularized by Angelo Moriondo in 1811. In 1870, a French engineer named Georges Lecoq developed an improved espresso machine that made it possible to produce more consistent results with less water usage. The Swiss engineering company Caffè Italiano first produced a quality espresso machine called the “Cappuccino” in 1912. From 1994 until 2007, Fair Trade Coffee was one of the largest single donors to philanthropy in the United States with over $1 billion dollars given away through their programs coordinated with partner organizations throughout America. In 1775, a group of Dutch traders discovered Java and started trading with its people. They brought some beans back to Holland where they were processed into coffee. Coffee became popularized in Europe during the 18th century and it was exported to Asia starting from China in the 16th century.
Ocean Springs is a town in Jefferson County, Mississippi, United States. The population was 2,856 at the 2010 census. It has been called "The Bible" of Mississippi because it is home to both the University of Southern Mississippi and the cotton plantations that produced the state's first crops. For more than 150 years, Ocean Springs has served as a center for culture and commerce in central Mississippi. The town's early growth was fueled by its location on the mouth of the Yazoo River, which made it an important shipping point for goods passing through the then-infant Gulf Coast region. In 1858, Ocean Springs became known as "The Bible" because so many people from neighboring states were living there and learning about Methodism while attending USM. After USM moved to Jackson in 1881, Ocean Springs became largely self-sufficient and experienced rapid growth until World War II brought economic decline and social turmoil. In recent years, efforts have been made to revive downtown Ocean Springs with new attractions such as a restored cotton ginnery and a new museum dedicated to history and culture in Ocean Springs during World War I. Today, much of what once characterized downtown is now residential neighborhoods or open space surrounding USM's main campus.
The first white people in Ocean Springs were the Shrimps, who came here in 1827. In 1881, a group of farmers started a small cotton plantation, known as the Plantation of Hope. The plantation continued to be run by the family until it was sold to another group of farmers in 1898. In 1916, the Plantation of Hope was renamed Delta Farm and later Delta Farms Company. The company operated a cotton gin and enslaved African Americans for slave labor from 1915 until 1865. Delta Farm also built a hotel and other infrastructure on the site today.
