Moss Point is a small town in Jackson, Mississippi, United States. The population was 2,564 at the 2010 census. Moss Point is located on the banks of the MissisipPI River. It is known for its white-washed homes and plantation-style architecture. The first European to visit Moss Point was Captain John Marshall in 1799 when he set out from Pensacola, Florida with two ships to explore the area. He named the river "Mississippi" after General James Wilkinson's army had destroyed a French fort at Mobile Bay in 1803. Lieutenant Governor John Pemberton granted a charter to become an incorporated village on December 5, 1824 by order of Mississippian governor Isaac A. Gulf. In 1854, an act was passed by Congress designating Moss Point as one of fifteen townships in Jackson County which would be under control of the Mississippi Territory government headed by territorial governor David Hogg. The town became part of Jackson County on May 1, 1865 when it was included within newly created Hinds County. Moss Point developed rapidly during Reconstruction following passage of the 15th Amendment to the United States Constitution (1868). With few white settlers available and many black men working on plantations near Baton Rouge – where much cotton production took place – development proceeded slowly until 1895 when moss point saw its first post office establishment and began construction of what would become its first commercial building – a store run by Jno Beasley and Brothers – which opened in 1896 In 1907, withoco rubber Company built a large factory here that continues to produce tires today while other businesses have also been established such as a bank and professional football team (the Green Bay Packers). The growth of industry led to increased traffic congestion along US Highway 82 which caused several homes in town to be abandoned beginning around 1915; however they were quickly replaced by new structures erected during World War II including airfields used for training black pilots while most residents continued living within their homes until recent times . Today there are still some abandoned homes but they are being slowly restored/repaired as part of broader revitalization effort called "MossPointe."

In 1935, Moss Point became part of Jackson Municipal Airport and has since been one of its primary airports. Today, Gulfport is still considered to be Moss Point's biggest city with over 1 million people living there within its boundaries
