And finally...the ever popular 'gift box'!"

Mccomb, Mississippi is a small town located in Jackson County, Mississippi. The population was 3,654 as of the 2010 census. Its name comes from Thomas Mccomb, who settled there in 1814. McComb is the county seat and home to most of the government buildings for Jackson County. The first white settlers in what would become McComb were David Brown and his family on March 10, 1814. They were followed by John Hicks and his family on April 4th. There were also two families of Scots-Irish immigrants who arrived about this time: The Cavanaughs and the McDonaghs. By 1824, all of these pioneer families had left for other parts of Mississippi Territory (now Alabama). In 1827, Simeon Baldwin purchased land near present-day McComb from David Brown for $5 per acre. He named it Baldwin's Landing after himself and his brother James Baldwin Sr., one of the original settlers in what would become McComb Township. In 1830, he built a store and tavern called "Baldwin's Ferry" onama Creek to serve travelers coming downriver from nearby Meridianville (later known as Montgomery). This landing became known as Baldwin's Ferry because it was where travelers could disembark before continuing their journey downriver orBAILEY'S FERRY—a term that has been used ever since to refer to McComb proper In 1840, George Washington Carrington founded a school at what is now downtown McCombsville which served areas upriver from present-day downtown McCulloughsburg until 1862 when that area was transferred to Uniontown due to its strategic location between Meridianville and Mobile Bayou
