Navy Deployed Gift History in Long Beach, Mississippi began with the United States Naval Forces Central Command (NAVCENT) stationed in the city from 1947-1948. The naval forces presence was first limited to harbor defense and training exercises until 1951 when a detachment of the Seventh Fleet arrived in Long Beach. This event marked the beginning of what would eventually become an extensive military presence in the city. In 1957, a permanent installation was established at Naval Station Long Beach with 2,500 sailors and marines. The City of Long Beach made Economic Development available for this purpose and contributed $5 million to help finance construction of naval stations and other navy facilities throughout southern California. In 1963, Navy personnel were ordered to deploy to South Vietnam as part of Operation Neptune’s Spear. This deployment ended six months later with no injuries or fatalities reported among American servicemen. As part of Operation Enduring Freedom, USS Enterprise sailed into missile range off Yemen on October 5th, 2002 after detecting Iranian missiles being fired at Bahrain airspace. Upon discovery, Enterprise engaged the targets and prevented further damage or innocent civilian casualties. It is estimated that Enterprise spent over 3 weeks conducting operations off Yemeni shores while providing security for U.S citizens working within that country Since its inception there have been numerous deployments by both our navy and Marine Corps members throughout Southern California including: Desert Storm;Operation Iraqi Freedom;Operation Noble Eagle;Afghanistan War II; Operation Just Cause; Desert Shield/Desert Storm; Alaskan Neutrality Expeditionary Force/First Gulf War & more!

The USS Enterprise (CVN-70) was a guided missile cruiser and the last of the original Nimitz class of American destroyers. She was decommissioned in 1998, but returned to service as part of the United States Naval Reserve Fleet before being stricken from the Naval Vessel Register on 1 November 2001. In 2003, she was reactivated as an amphibious assault vessel for Operation Neptune's Spear. In 2007, she collided with another destroyer while sailing in international waters off Peru. The Enterprise required several repairs before serving again in 2009 during Operation Neptune's Spear, this time taking part in humanitarian relief operations after Hurricane Katrina. In late 2010 she returned to Long Beach, Mississippi where she remains today stationed as a museum Ships Museum adjunct to USDMHSL.
Long Beach, Mississippi is a small town located in the Delta region of Mississippi. It is bounded on the north by Lauderdale County and on the south by Yazoo County. The population was 2,040 at the 2010 census. The community was founded in 1892 when two Mormon families moved from Nauvoo, Illinois to what is now Long Beach. At that time it consisted of just a few homes and a saw mill. The town grew rapidly during the early 20th century thanks to heavy industry and agriculture, which led to increased trade and commerce throughout the area. In 1924 Long Beach became an incorporated village with full voting rights and limited powers until it joined the larger city of Jackson in 1959. Today, Long Beach is one of Jackson's most vibrant neighborhoods with many businesses and cultural attractions including three theaters, two libraries, several schools, a golf course, tennis courts, a swimming pool and more than 20 stores closed for renovation or demolition as part of downtown's "Rehabilitation Project." The economy has been diversified through partnerships with local universities (Jackson State University-Long Beach Campus; McNeese State University-Lauderdale Campus; Southern Miss., University of Louisiana at Lafayette), private companies (Citizenship Bank) and federal governments (Department of Housing Preservation & Development- Homeownership Opportunities Program). In recent years there have been efforts to revitalize portions of Downtown Jacksonville along with plans for new development near Interstate 10/U.S. 90 by way of density control measures that are designed to preserve open spaces within walking distance from commercial corridors while creating jobs outside traditional business sectors

Long Beach was founded in 1881 as a small settlement on the Mississippi River. The town quickly became an important center for cotton agriculture and trade, and by the 1920s it had become one of the most populous towns in Mississippi. Over the years, Long Beach has seen significant development both north and south of the river: a new addition to the city in 1922, for example, was a major expansion of downtown which included a library and numerous businesses. In recent decades, however, Long Beach's fortunes have been mixed: its population diminished after World War II but then grew again during the 1990s boom when African American migration increased; today it is still one of Mississippi's most diverse cities. The history of Long Beach began with John Sayers who settled there in 1881. Sayers was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in 1824 and moved to northeastern Mississippi when he was just seventeen years old. He joined his brother James Sayers on their farm near present-day Union City before moving to what is now Long Beach in 1881. At first John worked irrigating cotton fields while his brothers prospected for mineral rights; eventually they became involved with lumbering and shipping activities. By 1900 they had developed a large crop land operation that produced over two million pounds of cotton per year – second only to Mobile at that time – and bought out other farmers throughout their territory. They also started making money selling watercourses that drained into the river between their plantations and marketplaces along its banks. In 1902 John died suddenly at age seventy-six while attending a business meeting northeast of Jackson; James inherited his property but did not live to see it succeed commercially (he passed away in 1904). With John's death came opportunities for James' sons Samuel (1885-1955) and Alfred (1887-1962), both lawyers who would make important contributions to their father's company during their careers: Alfred opened up new markets outside Jackson for Long Beach products while Samuel helped expand production inland so that more goods could be exported without customs duties y encumbered by transportation costs back home. In 1925 Samuel married Gertrude Holmquist Nye (1892-1974), daughter of well-to-do planters from Yazoo County; together they founded sister firm Nye & Sons LLP which later became prominent within Delaware law firms..
