Long Beach, Mississippi is a town located in Jackson County, Mississippi. The population was 1,829 at the 2000 census. As of the 2010 census, the population of Long Beach had increased to 2,057. In 1885, John Fenton opened the first gourmet coffee house in Jackson County. His business became known as Fenton's Coffee House and Cafe. Gourmet coffee houses were common during this time because people wanted to find world-class coffee and enjoy its unique flavors. In 1925, Harry diehard Howard fan tried out Fenton's Coffee House for the first time and fell in love with its flavor profile. He decided to open his own gourmet coffee house called Harry's Java House after meeting Harry at the cafe. This business became known as Java Joes Coffee House and Café which continued to serve world-class coffee until it closed in 1984. The last remnants of Java Joes CoffeeHouse can be found today on West Main Street in Long Beach proper! Although java houses are no longer common in America today, they continue to thrive in other parts of the world! One example is Indonesia whereJava Joes Coffeehouse is still a popular tourist spot!

Long Beach is a city in the U.S. state of Mississippi and is part of the Gulf Coastal Plain. As of the 2010 census, Long Beach had a population of 22,569. The city was founded on October 21, 1892 by Elias Howe and his brother-in-law, John C. Bogue. It was named for the sound made by waves when someone walking on the beach moves their sandals against the tide. The first store in Long Beach opened its doors on December 5, 1892. The town was incorporated on April 3, 1893 and it became home to over 100 businesses within five years of its incorporation including a post office, grocery store, livery stable, flour mill and blacksmith shop before becoming an industrial center with shipbuilding and other manufacturing interests taking hold in the early 20th century. In 1926 Long Beach facilities were used to house 602 prisoners from Parchman State Prison who were then used as labor for various local industries until their release in 1928 under terms negotiated by Governor James Meredith with prison officials desperate for a way out without causing any more trouble at Parchman which had been tearing apart since its construction two years earlier (see Parchman Prison hunger strike). In 1936 Long Beach became one of nine towns along the Gulf Coast which joined together to form Jackson County as part of efforts to improve communication and cooperation between these various communities during what was called "The Great Migration". This period saw an influx of African Americans into rural areas across Mississippi during World War II as many southern white men enlisted or went off to fight in Europe while their families remained behind in racism-era America; this migration led to increased joblessness among those new arrivals as well as increased racial tension throughout much of south Mississippi following Pearl Harbor. Many black businesses closed during this time due either to difficult competition from white counterparts or because Race Relations Commission regulations kept them open despite not meeting government standards set forth for such businesses; some examples include JW Crocker's establishment which reopened after being shut down by authorities numerous times due to race restrictions placed upon it by local governments; Memphis general Store Opened After Being Shut down Multiple Times By Authorities For Not Meeting Race Requirements
Long Beach was founded in 1853 by Laban and John White. The first post office was established in 1854. By 1860, the town had a population of about 100 people. In 1865, the community was renamed Long Beach after General Robert E. Lee's brigade that fought at the Battle of Gettysburg. The town grew rapidly during the late 1800s and early 1900s due to its location on the Mississippi River and its access to shipping lanes. During World War II, Long Beach became a major naval base with facilities for shipbuilding and repair. After the war, Long Beach began to decline as a commercial center because of lack of new development and competition from larger towns along the Mississippi River. However, over time it regained some of its former prominence as a manufacturing center for products such as rubber products and plastics. Today, Long Beach is a small town with few residents remaining who remember or have experienced much during their time there. Despite this, however, it remains an important part of Mississippi history because it played an important role in both World Wars II and later in civil rights movements for African Americans throughout America.
