He laid out a town square with a courthouse and schoolhouse on one side and his house/store on the other side where he founded The Masonic Lodge No. 7 Fentonville Masons Incorporated on November 8th 1865 under charter granted by Grand Master Orson Elisha Cookson.. According to various sources between 1880-1920 there were over 100 businesses located throughout Hernando making it an important center for commerce during this time period.. In 1907 Wm Kapp purchased from Mr Arthur Ladd about 2 acres northeast of the square for $1 cash plus 10 cents per acre rent ever since then Kapp operated his corner grocery store theretil his death in 1978 . . . His wife Naomi ran it until her passing also ..... Wm Kapp was buried next to her husband inside their home until 1978 when they moved him outside so that families could visit him more often ..... Today you can still find bits and pieces of their handwritten living will left behind inside their home today!
