The Marine Corps Deployment Gift History Program began in Columbus, Mississippi in 1967 and has since grown to include more than 350 Marines stationed in 27 states. The program is designed to provide unique and memorable gifts for Marines and their families during deployments. The program allows Marines and their families the opportunity to receive special items such as clothes, tools, souvenirs, or even a trip to an overseas military base. Gifts can also be made in memory of a loved one who has served with the Marines. The program is open to any Marine family living in any state within the United States. The generosity of Marines and their families has been overwhelming over the years. In 2013 alone, King George’s County donated nearly $27,000 worth of gifts to the Marine detachment located at Columbus Armory. This year alone, marines from all over America will be deployed with our country on Operation Inherent Resolve.
