The Clinton National Guard unit was first activated on September 15, 1938. The unit was composed of a Headquarters and Headquarters Company, two Battalion companies and four Platoon companies. The first drill in the unit was an emergency drill to test the equipment that had been brought in from Baton Rouge. On November 1, 1938, the Clinton National Guard Unit was redesignated as the 9th Mississippi Infantry Regiment. On December 10, 1938, the unit received its orders to mobilized for World War II. The 9th Mississippi Infantry Regiment arrived at Camp Bearden on December 17 and began training with other military units in anticipation of mobilization. On January 12, 1939, mobilization orders were issued for all states in the Union and Mississippi immediately mobilized into federal service under the command of General James M. Gavin USMC Commandant of Marine Corps Reserve Force #2 headquartered at Pensacola naval base Florida along with 2nd battalion (9th MSIR) from Louisiana and 3rd battalion (9th MSIR) from Alabama under Lieutenant Colonel J H Cummings commanding officer 9th MSIR In March 1939-April 1939 units were deployed toPortugal where they served as part of garrison duty until May when they returned home In October 1939-November 1940 units participated in exercises off New Mexico }; these drills simulated combat against Mexican forces near Texarkana}; Then on 5/8/1940 sailed for Casablanca Morocco arriving on 11/11/1940} where they underwent Spanish language training before moving into action against French forces In early 1942 about one half million men had volunteered for war in Europe including over 400 soldiers from Mississippi> After months of planning and rehearsal confusion erupted when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor On Dec 7 1941 our country entered World War II

The National Guard has been around since the Revolutionary War. In 1775, a group of soldiers from Massachusetts proposed that all male citizens between the ages of eighteen and thirty-six should be drafted into the militia to help fight against British forces. The Congress agreed and made it a permanent part of the military. From its earliest days, the National Guard was given special consideration. In 1792, Congress passed an act making it a voluntary organization without man or woman being required to serve. This move was in response to increasing tensions between England and America over trade tariffs and other issues. The National Guard was originally organized into companies with a two-year term limit. However, this limit was repealed in 1802 after troops were called up for service in Mexico City during the Mexican War (1810-12). Afterward, each state set its own rules regarding how many men could be draft into the militia per unit. As time went on, however, more states started calling up their guardsmen for service in wars abroad or at home. By 1861, there were about 26 million Guardsmen serving in some way or another across America. A total of 957 units were created nationwide, most prominent among them being companies of artillery and infantry units known as brigades (the first brigade was formed on October 15th of that year). In 1917, World War I ended with Germany’s defeat and surrender; this brought an end to World War I and also marked the beginning of World War II. After World War I ended came new questions about what would happen to America’s Armed Forces outside of wartime duty; specifically whether they would become part of Nato or remain independent under new leadership? There were also concerns about how technology had changed since 1914 when machine guns became common weapons mounted on tanks and planes? Would these new technologies make mobilization possible if needed again in times of war? These questions led congress to pass The National Defense Act which created The National Guard Bureau within DoD (now Department Of Homeland Security) “to provide efficient management for Recruiting Cadets through programs designed to develop patriotic loyalty among young people”1 It also established standards for enlistment including age requirements for service ( eighteen years old by November 1st regardless if you have experience), length of enlistment (four years minimum), residency requirement (residence within three months prior to enlistment), physical fitness tests/examining officer(s) before induction into unit(s)), pay grade/rank/pay range etc2 In addition, members who failed physical examinations may have their enlisted status revoked3 When President Roosevelt took office in 1933 he saw that America had been hit hard by depression; millions had lost their jobs while wages remained low despite efforts by Roosevelt himself4 He knew that American involvement in world events would be necessary if we wanted stability during these difficult times5 Accordingly he issued Executive Order 8802 which directed federal agencies such as DoD “to establish branches throughout our country so that reservists can receive training quickly upon request”6 This order allowed Forwards Commanders To Instruct Reservists On How To Use Weapons And Tactics7 Additionally FDR ordered all state governors “to appoint directors responsible for organizing recruitment campaigns”8 This program began with New York Governor Herbert Lehman9 but soon expanded statewide11 By 1938 almost 30 states had appointed directors12 Finally Roosevelt ordered all recruiters must wear uniforms13 This order caused some outcry14 But ultimately it allowed Federal Reserve bankers who used their position as recruiting officers to get recruits onto their payroll15 Consequently today there are over 350 national guard battalions throughout America16 Each battalion is commanded by a lieutenant colonel17 Since 1941 there has been regular rotation among different billets18 Which means each soldier can rotate through anywhere from one battery per month21 It should be noted that not every battalion is active 24 hours per day7 Withdrawal from duty does not mean retirement however many Guardsmen do go off completely inactive due than become civilian employees

Clinton is a small town in Jackson County, Mississippi, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Oxford-Mackalona-Fayetteville Micropolitan Statistical Area. Clinton was named for Revolutionary War hero General George Washington's home county in Virginia. The first settler in what would become Clinton was James Fenton, who purchased land from the Mississippian people in 1792. He built a cabin on a hill overlooking what is now Clinton. In 1819, Fenton's son John founded the village of Clinton as an agricultural community with his own store and outhouses. The old log courthouse which still stands today served as the village hall until 1865 when it burned down. In 1868, Yankees under general Winfield Scott marched into Jackson County to suppress cotton smuggling and piracy by local yeoman farmers known as "Natchez Boys". The Yankees burned most of Clinton while looters destroyed homes and property throughout the town center and rural areas around it. For three days afterward, mobs looted banks and stores before being driven back by troops led by General Order No. 8 of 1868 which stated that no looting or destruction should take place without prior warning to local leaders; this order helped prevent any further violence against Yankees or civilians. A new courthouse was completed in 1870 but due to its location within walking distance of slave pens and other anti-slave activities (the building has been preserved), only one side functioned as a courtroom during much of its history; this side housed a grocery store run by Solomon Slaughter until it closed in 1951 because of government regulation prohibiting racial discrimination against white customers in business enterprises.). After Reconstruction came to Mississippi after Abraham Lincoln's American Civil War victory over Confederate forces on April 12 1865, African Americans were finally able to enjoy full civil rights under state law following passage of the 15th Amendment to the United States Constitution on November 4 Thirteen years later on December 6 1865 - thus makingClinton one of only two townships (the other being Greenville) nationwide where African Americans had full voting rights from statehood onward until 1955 when they were reclassified as citizens entitled to vote through proper process instead of just having registration papers mailed to them like whites). In 1871, the United States acquired the Louisiana Purchase from Spain for $4 million. The area that now includes Mississippi was part of this acquisition and was named for Missouri General James K. Polk, who had played a leading role in negotiating the purchase. In 1898, following the Spanish-American War, Mexico ceded control of Cuba to America and as a result, Mississippi became one of the first U.S. states to become Mexican territory when it achieved statehood on November 15, 1912. The Battle of New Madrid in 1812 was fought between American forces under Commander Colonel Andrew Jackson and Native Americans under Chief Tecumseh at what is now Starkville while negotiations were ongoing between the two groups over an alliance against Great Britain. The battle resulted in American victory and helped solidify U.S.-Mexico relationships which would play an important role in later conflicts such as World War II. In 1907, Mississippi seceded from the Union because it sawmember states like Texas (which also seceded) as being too prosperous while other southern states were still struggling with Reconstruction after Reconstruction ended in 1865 following Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation which ended slavery in America. This event is commonly known as "The Day That Never Was." After years of conflict over issues such as education, voting rights, currency reform and other matters, the Confederate States of America was dissolved by President James Buchanan on April 6th 1865 without any blood shed between armies or hand-to-hand combat taking place; instead General Robert E Lee surrendered his army at Appomattox Court House four days later on April 11th 1865 following a series of battles including one near Memphis called Second Bull Run where more than 50% casualties occurred among both sides making it one of deadliest engagements ever fought by humans on horseback before or since then publically documented events outside theater
