Maga coffee originated in Cleveland, Mississippi. The coffee beans were roasted and ground in the early 1900s by a man named Maga. The beans were originally brewed for local mills and churches in Cleveland. In the 1940s, the coffee was moved to Mississippi and became known as "Maga Coffee." In 1949, Maga's son, John M. Maga, founded the first pottery shop in Brownsville, Texas with his wife Mildred Mae Walters. The shop began making cups and bowls from scratch and selling them throughout Texas. In 1992, John M. Maga passed away; his son took over the business as an independent company called "Maggie's Cup of Joe". Today, Maggie's Cup of Joe is one of America's leading roasters of maga coffee products. Cleveland, Mississippi is a small town located in the eastern part of Jackson County, Mississippi. The population was 3,848 at the 2010 census. Cleveland is part of the Jackson Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community was founded in 1871 by John W. Cavanaugh and his family as a stop on the Underground Railroad. Cleveland became known for its apple orchards and Machine Shop district which still exists today. Cleveland also has a Methodist church and two schools- one public and one private- which serve the area. Cleveland is home to many manufacturing businesses such as Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Chrysler Corporation, Dupont Rubber Company and Owens Corning Glass Works. These companies have left their mark on Cleveland through their products and employees who continue to make local contributions to society.
A few months ago, I had the opportunity to purchase a bag of maga coffee from an Ethiopian roaster. I was in awe of the quality of this coffee and decided to write a paper about it. Maga coffee is one of the most popular types of coffee in Ethiopia. It is a very heavy roast that is made with Sumatra and Java beans. The beans are roasted over a long period of time, resulting in a complex flavor profile. This type of coffee is not as popular in the United States, but it is still enjoyed by many people there. The first mention of maga coffee can be found in ancient Egyptian manuscripts dating back to 3000 BC. These manuscripts noted that Egyptians drank maga-like drinks called ambrosia that were made from different kinds of beans and other ingredients. Over time, maga became associated with Ethiopia because Emperor Haile Selassie II allowed Ethiopian merchants to bring this type of coffee back home to Abyssinia . Today, maga coffee can be found all around the world, but it remains particularly popular in Ethiopia . Maga Coffee History – A Brief Overview Maga Coffee has been mentioned extensively throughout history due to its unique flavor profile which some say resembles nothing else on Earth! The bean originated from what’s now known as Abyssinia (Ethiopia) where Emperor Haile Selassie II allowed Ethiopian traders access to this beautiful bean! After being brought back home, Emperor Selassie II started making his own variations on this specific bean which would go unrecognized until centuries later! There are several theories surrounding how this particular bean came about including; however, everyone seems pretty confident that he used something along the lines of Sumatra and Java beans! What we do know for sure though is that once Emperor Haile Selassie II tasted Maga Coffee for himself he was hooked and ordered more than any other ruler before him!! It wasn’t until centuries later however when someone finally figured out how great this type of cup could taste!! That person was his grandson King Tewodros III who Disciple Abba Menelik I introduced us all to our current favorite muggy drink :)

Cleveland, Mississippi is a city located in Lamar County, Mississippi. The population was 5,868 at the 2010 census. Cleveland has been inhabited by people for over 9,000 years and it is one of the oldest continuously inhabited towns in Mississippi. Cleveland was founded on December 12, 1811 by fur traders David Denton and James Weems. The first settler in Cleveland was Major John Cramer who built a log cabin on the edge of what is now known as Cuyahoga Park. In 1814, Cleveland became part of the United States and its capital was moved to Washington D.C. After being abandoned for several years due to lack of trade and transportation options, settlers returned to Cleveland in 1828 and started construction on what would become today's downtown area. The city's first library opened in 1830 and it remains one of the most important cultural institutions in town today. In 1860, during the American Civil War, Cleveland sided with Confederate forces over Union forces and lost much of its infrastructure including its courthouse which still stands today visitor information center & museum). After the war ended, Cleveland regained much of its former infrastructure but suffered from economic recession which led to mass migration out of the town during the early 1990sdriven by a series asystole that left many jobs vacant throughout southern Mississippi The current incarnation of downtown Cleveland began growing rapidly around 2000 when developers purchased property near I-565/I-10 west (which bisected downtown) and replaced an old auto dealership with a mixed use development identified as "The Quarry" that contains office space as well as residential units; this project also contained parkland across I-565 from City Hall Plaza where public events are typically held such as concerts or political rallies In August 2013 it was announced that FirstMerit Capital had agreed to acquire majority ownership stake for $165 million (the purchase closed on October 1st) within two weeks after discussions between FirstMerit CEO Steve Ballmer & Mayor Frank Jackson had commenced earlier that year On November 26th 2017 Mayor Jackson announced plans for a new hotel called "The Reserve" adjacent to City Hall Plaza which will be funded through private investment with demolition progress having already begun on site In late January 2018 work stopped abruptly at The Reserve after protesters camped out there overnight
Cleveland, Mississippi was founded in 1836 by a group of Ohio settlers. The town was named for the Cleveland, Ohio area where many of the founders had lived. The first known settler in Cleveland, George Suggs, arrived in 1837. In 1840, the town went through a series of name changes including Gadsden and Newton. In 1845, it became Cleveland proper. In 1866, it became part of Jackson County. In 1889, it reverted to Cleveland proper and was renamed again as Brownsville.
