In 1942, the United States Congress passed act that renamed the United States Coast Guard "The Department of Homeland Security" which led to more donations from individuals and organizations. Today, there are over 11,500 members of The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) who join with The Department of Commerce (DOC) as part of The Federal Protective Service (FPS). These DHS/DOC member agencies provide law enforcement and other support services within their respective jurisdictions. A number of specific gifts within this gift history include: models for sea rescue vessels; helicopters; radar equipment; firearms; life jackets; communications systems; vehicles; medical supplies; wineskins.
