Navy gifts have been a part of the Waconia community for over seventy years. During World War II, the navy donated many items to the town, including drums and Ships-of-the-Line torpedoes. In 1954, Waconia was chosen as the home of the first navy museum in America. The museum has since grown to include a library and shipyard. In 2006, the city of Minneapolis contributed $50 million to build a new naval base in Waconia. This will provide much needed employment and housing for local citizens. The navy is currently stationed at this new base and donations continue to come in from all around America in order to keep our sailors safe and happy!

Waconia, Minnesota is a small town located in the state of Minnesota. The population was 1,902 at the 2010 census. Waconia is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul Metropolitan Statistical Area and it is also within the Saint Anthony Falls School District. The name "Waconia" comes from a Dakota language word meaning "place where there are buffalo." The first settler in what would become Waconia was A.C. Hodge in 1872. By 1888, most of the area had been acquired by Mr. and Mrs. John Prentice who named their new community after their daughter's birthplace, Wallonia, Belgium. In 1914, two brothers named George and Clarence Fenton purchased part of the town from Prentice for $10 per acre (later raised to $120). They donated property that included a gristmill and sawmill which they operated until 1941 when they sold all assets to Harry Schmidtke for construction of an airport which remains operational today as X-Hafner Field Airport! In 1916 Leland Keyes purchased 6 acres east of present day Main Street for $10 per acre (raised to $160). He built a home on this land which still stands today known as Keyes House #1! In 1928 Drury & Sons founded what would become one of Waconia's most famous businesses; The Drury Drug Store! It wasn't until 1959 when Pharmacy Corporation changed its name to CVS Pharmacy that Wagon Wheel Shopping Center opened its doors! In 1969 Ypsilanti Brewing Company opened its doors in what would be one of Waconia's longest running businesses! As time passed more stores closed down but Ypsilanti kept going with expansions into other states such as Michigan before closing up shop again in 1997! Today only two buildings remain from back then - The Brewery Building on Main Street and The Warehouse on University Avenue! Today, Waconia continues to maintain close ties with its Lindale roots by hosting annual festivals includingthe Lindale Arts Festival andLindale County Fair each year!!

Waconia is a town in Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 2,474 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. Waconia was founded in 1854 as a small rural community on Iron River by John Sorenson and his family. The first school in Waconia opened in 1856. A post office was established in 1865 and remained open until it closed in 1903. In 1886, Waconia became the site of the first oil well drilled in Dakota Territory and production began from that well soon afterwards. In 1907, Waconia approved an ordinance allowing women to vote; this event is considered to be one of the early steps towards women's rights in America. In 1912, Waconia became home to the world’s largest paper mill when it merged with two smaller mills to form National Paper Manufacturing Company (NPMC). NPMC continued producing newspapers until it went bankrupt in 2003. The mill buildings are now used as housing units by the city of Minneapolis-Saint Paul development corporation known as Nordstrom Place LLC. Since its founding, Waconia has experienced many major changes both within its own community and across Minnesota overall including: In 1951, voters passed a referendum approving annexation into neighboring Hennepin County which made Waconia one of the most populous communities within that county boundaries at that time; In 1957, when Interstate 94 bypassed downtown St Cloud and entered Ramsey County through North Avenue instead creating what is now called Midtown West district; and finally Lastly, following controversy over plans for an expressway through downtown Wacoonia which ultimately did not happen due to public opposition

Waconia, who had fought in the American Civil War. The town grew rapidly during the early years of its existence, and by 1886 it had a population of around 100 people. However, due to factors such as low agricultural prices and competition from nearby cities, Waconia's population gradually decreased over the next several decades. However, although its economic fortunes declined, Waconia retained some of its cultural values and remains an important community today.
