The National Guard in Stillwater, Minnesota was founded on December 11, 1903. The first members of the National Guard were recruited from the town's military population. The unit was organized under the United States Constitution and Article I, Section 8 as a state militia to support the federal government in times of war or emergency. The National Guard has played an important role in local and national events throughout its history. In 1937, Governor James Byron Byrne called for all Minnesotans to join the National Guard for a patriotic rally in St Paul Cathedral. The event served as a symbol of Minnesotan patriotism and unity. Throughout World War II, the National Guard offered service to both America and Great Britain. On September 2, 1944, President Franklin D. Roosevelt authorized all American citizens who could provide fingerprint records or other identifying information to become members of the Armed Forces through registration with their respective local volunteer units within two weeks of mobilization effective date; this act helped ensure that many potential volunteers had access to arms and equipment necessary for defense during wartime. In October 1957, Governor Harold Stennis called for all citizens over 18 years old to become registered with their unit within three months of becoming activated by calling a special session of the Minnesota Legislature which passed House Bill 5352 legalizing membership in military services without any prior enlistment or selectivity process required by law at that time; this act allowed more people than ever before to join up with our armed forces during peacetime because there was no need for selective recruitment process then associated with active duty Army/Navy/Marine Corpsmember status ( badges, rank insignia ). Stillwater is a small town in the state of Minnesota, United States. The population was 7,873 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. Stillwater is located just south of the state capital, Bemidji, on the banks of the Mississippi River. The original town site was nearpresent-day Stillwater and Waseca on land owned by fur trader David Thompson in 1824. The name "Stillwater" was given to the stream which flowed through it from its headwaters in east central Minnesota to its mouth on Middle Dakota about two miles west of present-day Winona. The townsite itself likely dates back to 1828 when Samuel Merrill donated land for a school and store in what would become Stillwater and Waseca. In 1838, John Davenport made a Donation of $1,500 for an addition to still water's current Methodist church (later renamed First Presbyterian). By 1840, three stores were open in town: one run by Andrew Duffield and two by James Irvine; both men had their offices on Main Street today known as First Avenue East and West (now University Avenue). A post office opened there on November 1st, 1840 under license from Stroudsburg township southeast of Stillwater along Missouri River opposite where Interstate 94 runs today. During Minnesotan fever epidemics that swept across much of western Minnesota during 1846–48, business owner James Irvine erected a large wood frame building now known as the McKnight Hotel which served as headquarters for medical relief efforts until activities could be relocated to larger buildings closer to patients or more easily sanitize after each outbreak. That same year also saw another donation - this time $2,000 towards construction costs for an academy for poor girls which would become Summit Academy Female Seminary & High School today closed down but offered scholarships until 1955 when it reopened as Stillwater Area Community College with Early Childhood Education program being housed within since then

Stillwater is a small town in western Minnesota, located about 20 miles northwest of the city of Minneapolis. The population was 5,771 at the 2010 census. It is part of the U.S. state of Minnesota and its county seat, Hennepin County. The community was founded in 1855 as Stillwater Settlement by Danish immigrants from Sverige who had come to American shores to find new land. The name derived from a still or pond near the original site. In 1875, Stillwater became the only town in Hennepin County when it amalgamated with other towns along the Grand River throughout Dakota County. In 1932, Stillwater was merged with neighboring Rochester to form a new municipality known as Rochester-stillwater which lasted until 1984 when it again reverted back to its previous name, Stillwater-Rochester. Today, much of what once constituted Stillwater has been destroyed by fire or development; however, some evidence suggests that portions of the settlement may have survived into the 19th century and even earlier than that: A report from 1847 shows that a Indian party discovered human remains dating back over 8500 years old on an area now occupied by Sleepy Hollow Cemetery; furthermore, two engraved stones found at another location within current day Stillwater indicate that early residents thought there might be ancient ruins buried beneath their midst!
