In 1875, a young man named John C. Thomas started roasting coffee in a small cabin on the edge of town in what is now St. Louis Park. The first coffee bought from Thomas and his family was traded back and forth between the townspeople and farmers in the area for many years until it became established as a local favorite. In 1915, J.C. Thomas' grandson, HarryThomas opened the first grocery store in St. Louis Park and began to sell roasted coffee direct to consumers from his farmstead. By 1925, HarryThomas had built a large roastery on his farmstead that produced some of the world's best-quality coffee beans. His legacy continues to this day - today, HarryThomases Coffee Co., Inc., is one of the largest roasteries in Minnesota with over 20 acres of production facilities across three states!

St. Louis Park is a small town in the Minnesota State Capitol area, located about 15 miles south of Minneapolis. The population was 7,527 at the 2000 census. The name "St. Louis Park" is derived from Saint Louis, Missouri. The first settler in what would become St.Louis Park was John Auld, who arrived on July 4, 1837. He and his wife were the first white people to live in the area that now includes downtown St.Louis Park and parts of Brooklyn Heights and Maplewood neighborhoods on the north side of town. Auld ran a store and tavern near Watertown Road and Washington Avenue for about 20 years before he sold it to Jens Christensen in 1859 for $800 cash or 2 percent of his land value each year until it went out of business in 1865; then he leased it back to Auld until 1871 when he sold it to James Wolkerts for $1,500 cash or 1/4 percentage of its annual revenue each year until it went out of business between 1875-1877; then Wolkerts leased it back again until 1880 when he bought it from Jens Christensen for $2,000 cash or 3/8 percentage of its annual revenue each year until 1886 when he built an opera house there which remains today as one of St.Louis Park's most popular tourist attractions (although not used as a municipal government building). The first post office was established at Saint Louis Park on December 10th, 1857 by order from Governor Isaac Stevens with Messrs Lewis & Clark as receivers general; this office was moved from Anoka to Saint Louis Park on January 1st, 1861 under orders from Governor Salmon Peevey with Messrs Lewis & Clark as receivers general; this office remained at Saint Louis Park through October 31st 1862 when it closed due to lack of customers after being moved into new building at Third Street and Lyndale Avenue in Minneapolis where mail continued arriving but no bills could be processed because only money orders were accepted because that was how postage stamps were issued). In 1865 John Auld donated land east of Watertown Road which became what is now called Riverfront parkland along Lake Minnetonka within city limits while also donating some land west of Watertown Road which became what is now called Forest Hill parkland within city limits; both donation are still active today and play an important role in downtown St .LOUIS PARK'S history! In 1927 Mrs Mabel Earle Smith donated 100 acres (40 hectares) northwest corner lot overlooking downtown including today's riverfront property - giving rise to current day plat form # 5555 Hennepin Ave NW - making her oneofthe largest donors ever! The city of St. Louis Park, Minnesota was founded on November 9, 1858, by the Missouri Compromise of 1857. The city was named in honor of General James K. Polk, who had been a U.S. Senator from Illinois and an unsuccessful candidate for president in 1860. In 1865, the city became the seat of territorial government for Dakota Territory after that territory was created from parts of Iowa and Nebraska. On January 1, 1889, Minneapolis consolidated with Saint Paul as the new capital of Minnesota.
