Shoreview is a town in Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 1,934 at the 2010 census. The unincorporated community of Shoreview Heights is located in the town. The first settler in Shoreview was Levi Addison and his family who arrived from Illinois in 1855. They named their land "Shoreview" after their home state of Illinois. In 1857, the railroad arrived and changed the name to "Ramsey". By 1870, most of what is now Shoreview had been developed as a farming community with small homes near the tracks. A post office was established at Shoreview on July 10, 1870, and remained in operation until it closed on October 24, 1912. In 1916, Dr. Harry Crain began working on an experimental program to fight tuberculosis at Mayo Clinic which would later become known as the Mayo Clinic tubercular research programs. He named his new Research Station for tuberculous patients at Shorewood after his hometown of Rochester Hills Michigan (now part of Flint). Dr. Crain's center became one of America's leading TB research institutions before he passed away in 1949. In 1964, when Ramsey County was authorized to establish towns by state statute 571A., it became my responsibility to create a town ordinance for shoreline township1 After much deliberation and study I finally came up with this idea: that we wouldn't have any roads or buildings within our limits so that people could come and go as they pleased; instead we would invite them all to stay for short periods during certain holidays or special events like Fourth Of July or Christmas etc... And so it started! As time went on people gradually got more interested in coming back year-round so I made another suggestion that we keep our store open 365 days a year just like Norway does! That way everyone could shop here whenever they want without having to worry about getting sick! That worked out great too-everyone loved being able to shop 365 days a year without any sickness! Today Shoreview is still considered an agricultural community with small homes near the tracks but many businesses have moved into downtown since then such as KFC & McDonalds which anchor the revitalized shopping district called The Landing which includes several high end boutiques and restaurants along First Street between Hwy 34th & 35th Ave NW

Shoreview is located on the shore of Lake Winnipeg and it is part of the Minneapolis–St. Paul metropolitan area. The first people to settle in what is now Shoreview were French Canadians who came from Quebec in 1835 and 1836. A post office called "Shoreline" was established in 1853, and remained in operation until 1862. In 1857, a group of Norwegian immigrants settled near what is now Shoreview, and their settlement became known as "Norwegian Landing". In 1870, an act of the Minnesota Legislature granted land to the town for a public school district; this act also provided for water access to the town from Manitou River. The first building in Shoreview was built on what is now Elm Street. In 1898, a fire destroyed most of downtown ShoreVIEW but not before saving many homes including one used by American businessman George Westphal as his summer home between 1904-1908. In 1903, Vikings founded Jamestown Settlement east of present-day ShoreVIEW on land that had been purchased from Dakota Sioux Nation chief Blackwater Creek after they had burned down Chief Crazy Horse's lodge near present day Hastings Heights. This settlement served as a hub for fishing and hunting activities throughout much ofnorth centralMinnesota during this period because there were no other settlements closer than Fort Snelling or Thief River Falls which required journeying over long distances each time one went into these larger towns In 1906, when Minneapolis incorporated as its own city, it included parts ofAnoka County within its boundaries (including portions of now-shuttered ShoreVIEW). As Minneapolis grew more populous and developed infrastructure such as sewers and transportation systems needed for greater densities within its limits – including expanding into nearby suburbs like Hennepin County – rapid growth necessitated new housing developments along both lakeshorelines: westward to Cedar Avenue southward to Portland Road eastward to Hoyt Street . These developments would eventually become known collectively as "the North Side", while eastern side remains today an mostly rural area with few development opportunities .
