Gourmet coffee has been a part of the community in Shoreview for over 50 years. The first coffee shop in Shoreview opened in 1951 and was known as the Golden Gopher. In 1975, the first national gourmet coffee championship was held at the Minneapolis Marriott. Theeventwasorganized by then-President Gerald Ford and featured some of the most talented roasters from around the country. Today, there are several different types of gourmet coffee shops available throughout Shoreview. Some offer unique blends orroasts, while others focus on whole beans only. In 1888, Abraham Lincoln contracted a fever and was taken to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He was the first U.S. president to be treated there. In 1898, Dr. John Hennepin opened the first coffee house in Shoreview with his own beans. The coffee houses were popular tourist destinations for Europeans and Americans alike who would come to drink coffee and eat pastries while taking in views of Lake Superior or watching people walk on the beach. In 1916, Dutch Schultz founded Schultz's Coffee Company in downtown Shoreview with $5,000 from his father-in-law Gertrude Steinbeck and a small loan from J. P. Morgan Jr.. Schultz became one of the most powerful businessmen in America due to his ownership of Schultz's Coffee Company as well as his position as CEO of United Independent Brewing Co., which produced many famous brands such as Starbuck's Coffee, Dunkin' Donuts Coffee, and Peet's Coffee among others
Shoreview is a small town located in Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 1,595 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area and is bordered by Plymouth to the north, Maplewood to the east, Woodbury to the south and Savage to the west. Shoreview began as a rural community on a peninsula in Lake Minnetonka before becoming an industrialized center in the early 20th century. After being hit hard by pioneering suburban development in the late 20th century, Shoreview has regained some of its former industrial character and has since become a center for education and health care. In recent years, however, Shoreview's economy has been struggling as contributions from businesses outside of its core sector have dwindled. The town of Shoreview was organized on April 6, 1892 when two towns that made up what is now Ramsey County - Hennepin Township to the north and east and Isanti Township to the south - merged into one entity under territorial government control. Prior to this time there were no roads or bridges connecting these communities so residents had Toomer's Creek running between them which served as their main water supply until it was dammed in 1922. On April 6 Countess Augusta McNamara donated land along Toomer's Creek for town site selection purposes with instructions that it be named after her sister Adelaide McNamara who resided in Averill Park near Minneapolis at that time; Adelaide had died young while serving as matron of Mnuchin Academy School (now known as Prairie View A&M University). A referendum passed by voters in February 1893 designated Maynard Island with a landing beach where people could disembark ferries transporting goods back and forth between Hennepin Township and Isanti Township; this beach became known as "shoreline" due to its close proximity to shorelines across Allis Bayou which formed part of then-Ramsey County's inland waterscape. In 1898 local manufacturer Maurice Kapp donated his land off Highway 66 just east of present day Shoreline Boulevard for use as a village square; Kapp named his settlement "Shore

In fact, coffee beans were first cultivated in Mesopotamia more than 4,000 years ago. The first coffee cultures in North America and Europe were also based in regions that have long been known for their excellent coffee production: Ethiopia, Java, and Arabia. The early Dutch settlers who arrived in New Netherland in 1624 were especially interested in the high-quality coffee plants growing near Rotterdam. Roasting these beans became a hobby for them, leading to the development of what is now called “Dutch Coffee”. The taste profile of this type of coffee was very different from modern day Arabica beans. It had a sweeter flavor and a fruity aroma that was specific to the region where it was grown. In 1847, an American named Samuel Inskeep started importing roasted Italian Beans from Rome as well as whole bean Turkish Coffee from Baghdad (now Iraq). These new introductions sparked interest among various tea consumers and espresso aficionados alike who began looking for unique and unusual coffees on their menus items at cafes across the United States. As roasters struck out on their own with their own distinctive flavors and principles, so too did cafes begin to offer gourmet coffee options beyond traditional drip or French press machines into all sorts of shapes and sizes – perfect for those who enjoy trying multiple types of coffees simultaneously! Today there are many different brands within the gourmet coffee industry which reflects how much variety there is today when it comes to making great cupcakes or lattes! Gourmet coffee began as a small business in the early 1800s. The first gourmet coffeehouses were opened in Amsterdam and Paris. These establishments specialized in high-quality, single-origin coffees from around the world.
As a small town located on the shore of Lake Superior, Shoreview is known for its history and culture. The town was founded in 1875 by brothers Cyrus and Charles G. Merrill, who named it after their childhood home, Shore View Manor. The Merrill Brothers were the developers of Shoreline Heights, a neighborhood located east of Shoreview. The first store in Shoreview was opened in 1878 by J.H. Triplett and his brother-in-law John Witherspoon. By 1888, there were six stores in the town and seventeen residents. In 1893, the first telephone line was installed in Shoreline Heights and the first electric light began to be used inshore at what is now Best Buy Park. In 1902, Mayor George Papp announced plans to build a reservoir on Lake Superior which would provide water for townspeople and create jobs. However, because of opposition from farmers who feared that they would lose their land to the new reservoir, these plans never came to fruition. In 1916, when World War I started, residents voted to join the United States Army as part of the national effort. After serving with distinction during World War I (including being decorated with three Purple Hearts), many returning servicemen decided to stay behind in Minnesota and start businesses in Shoreview such as D’Angelo’s Pizza Parlor (later renamed Angelo’s) and Frisch’s Knoppers (later renamed Kohlhaus). In 1951, when Minneapolis-St Paul annexed neighboring communities of Ballard and Brooklyn Center into Minneapolis proper, shoreline village status was bestowed upon Shorewood Village along with other villages within Minneapolis limits including Ballard Park South via eminent domain proceedings initiated by then-Mayor Joseph Mankiewicz following riots between white supremacists and black protesters that took place on May Day weekend 1950 near those same boundaries between Brooklyn Centerhanians and Minneapolisites (see also "Brooklyn Center: A History" below). Following annexation into Minneapolis proper by Mayor Joe Mankiewicz occurred some changes which included closing down several small shops owned by former Shorewood Village residents including Mrs Knowles' Bakery & Restaurant; Ohlone Department Store; Hastings Hardware; Holy Cross Catholic Church; Good Shepherd Lutheran Church; Fenton's Pharmacy; Dutch ReformedChurch #2; McCurdy's Ice Cream Plant & Drugstore;; Griggs Tire & Rubber Company;; Pie crust bakery called 'Shore View Bake House' closed 1961 dueTo lack Of customers but reopened 1988 Under new ownership As Just desserts Inc.; also Owned And Operated By Dick Schaefer On Long Island Railroad tracks.)
In 1851, the town of Shoreview was established on a tract of land that was part of the present-day city of Minneapolis. A year later, in 1852, the town's first post office opened. In 1861, Shoreview became a county seat and remained so until it was annexed by Minneapolis in 1896.
