The Coast Guard gift history in Rosemount, Minnesota began with the establishment of the first Coast Guard station in this town on December 16, 1892. The Rosemount Station was manned by a detachment of the Minnesota Volunteer Infantry Regiment under Brigadier General John W. Geary. In 1912, the Coast Guard detachment was redesignated as the 3rd District (Rosemount) and began serving as an auxiliaries to local law enforcement. On February 5, 1933, during the Great Depression, the Coast Guard detachment at Rosemount was disbanded and its personnel were absorbed into other units within the Department of Homeland Security. However, some community members continued to support and maintain friendly relations with the Coast guard until they were discontinued on October 1st, 2006 when all branches of DHS merged into one organization. Today there are three active coast guard stations located in Rosemount; one is operated by DPS (Minnesota State Patrol), one is operated by MNFWS (National Forest Service), and one is operated by RCWPD (Rosemount County Sheriff’s Department). Each station provides support for law enforcement officersand Emergency Response Team members across numerous sectors including Search and Rescue missions; maritime search and rescue; public transportation assistance; coastal erosion control; icebreaking operations; and marine debris removal. In addition to their responsibilities within their respective zones/areas, each station also operates a communications center which provides 24/7 access to dispatch services for Law Enforcement Units throughout Minnesota as well as National Incident Command System capabilities for events such as major disasters or terrorist threats. A distinctly different aspect of these organizations is their annual Christmas Party which takes place at a nearby military base where Gift-Giving Customs are observed! The first lighthouse in the area was built in 1914 and the second in 1916. The station served as a local defense against piracy and smuggler activity until it closed on September 30, 1951. On October 17, 1951, the Rosemount Coast Guard Station reopened as a full time station after being used by the Minneapolis-St. Paul Port Authority for many years. On May 7, 1957, the station donated its equipment to the Duluth Lighthouse Society which operates both lighthouses today. Since then, numerous gifts have been made to support coastal guard services in Rosemount including: cash donations (1958-1981), gifts of equipment (1987-1991), contributions of money (1992-2009), and land donations (2010-present).

Rosemount is a small town in the U.S. state of Minnesota, located on the Dakota Plains near the confluence of the Missouri and Minnesota Rivers. The population was 2,711 at the 2010 census, making it one of the smallest towns in Minnesota. Rosemount's history dates back to 1854 when two settlers named John and Rachel Snively purchased five acres (2 hectares) of land north of present-day Rosemount from Native American chief Black Hawk. The Snives built a log cabin on their new property and started farming crops. In 1876, they married Anna Palmer and founded a small town called Palmerston which became Rosemount after Anna's father, William Palmer Sr., bought some land in that name in 1881. The first post office in Rosemount was established in 1887; it was renamed Chatfield in 1895 because its owner, David Chatfield, had an interest in both Chatfield County and Chatroom Township (now Chadron). When Chatfield died suddenly young in 1901, his widow assumed management of the post office until 1903 when her son Charles took over as manager. In 1925, the village incorporated as a municipality; by 1930 it had increased its population to 3,000 residents. During World War II rosemount served as Headquarters for Tenth Army Group Midwest Command during Operation Overlord; many local businesses went into operation to support army activities including printing presses used for war bonds and aluminum cans filled with food for troops living onthe homefront After World War II ended and peace returned toMinnesota there were plans to develop part of what is now downtown Minneapolis into an artificial lake while much farmland around town continued being farmed although some development occurred such as building schools and hospitals within town limits along with more housing developments outside town limits In 1951 residents voted against developing artificial lakes within their towns boundaries yet again an effort failed but this time around referendum results showed majority support for new shopping mall complex known locally as “The Star” which would eventually be built adjacent to high school By 1990rosemont Residents had raised enough money through various taxation initiatives dubbed “The Greening up” campaign totaling $1 million dollars towards environmental improvements such as creating green roofs on all public buildings including libraries/government buildings water purification systems installed on most homes & streetslights changed from red/green lightbulbs to energy saving incandescent lamps
Rosemount is a city in Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 3,824 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. The first settler in Rosemount was John Anderton in 1858. In 1876, the Dakota Sioux tribe burned down the town's post office and store because they believed that white settlers were taking their land. The town rebuilt quickly and by 1880 had a population of 300 people.
