The city also houses several smaller military facilities such as Antitank Missile Range, Regional Ballistic Missile Storage Facility No. 4, Engine Manufacturing Battalion 515/521/523/529/531/, Helicopter Manufacturing Battalion 2/3/. The City of Rochester has made significant donations towards supporting USAF operations throughout its history. In 1946, they donated land on which Goodyear AFB now stands for use as an airfield; later that same year they donated $1 million towards construction of Wright-Patterson Airport – one of America’s first commercial airports. They also contributed millions more towards various military installation projects over time including $220 million for Lackland AFB in 1973; $130 million for Goodyear AFB in 1988; and another $100 million for Wright-Patterson AFB Annex in 1992. Today some 20% of allocating resources within USAFE are earmarked specifically for Rochester applications alone! Additionally local businesses have helped contribute money too - Time Warner Cable gave a donation worth over $10 million towards infrastructure development at Wright-Patterson AFB during 2006–2008 alone!

Some famous donations include: In 2007, General Wesley Clark donated two F-117A stealth fighter jets to serve as airborne command posts during Operation Neptune’s Spear; this was followed by a donation of twenty C-130J Hercules transports in 2009 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom II; this was followed by a donation of seventy-six Boeing 737 planes in support of Operation Noble Eagle (2007 – 2010). The biggest giveaway yet came in 2011 when General Michael Hayden delivered more than 1,100 items including Humvees and Apache helicopters worth over $1 million directly to local law enforcement agencies throughout America’s Midwest region during spring training exercises called “Just Cause” at altitude near Tucson Arizona
The Rochester Air Force Base gift history starts with Colonel Everett R. Smith, who served as the Superintendent of the Air Force Base in Rochester from 1959-1967. He was followed by Lieutenant General James E. Hogan, who served from 1967-1970 and then General John L. Vandenberg, who served from 1970-1975. During these years, the Air ForceBase underwent a number of renovations and expansions which included the construction of a new Commanding Officer's Building and Headquarters Annex. In 1975, General Vandenberg left to become the United States Ambassador to Spain and the base became operational under his command. The next year saw a major overhaul when Major General Ronald L. Neuman assumed command and he proclaimed that "the AFB is now an air force installation." This period ended with Major General Edwin Hoke in 1978 after which time there have been few changes until Present day where Helicopter Wing Commander Donald J. Bowers has held command since 1997

The first European settlers in what is now Rochester were French Canadians who arrived in 1768. They named their new settlement after their home province of Canada: "Rochester". The first store built in the city was opened by George Lynde in 1827 and served as a stop on the Underground Railroad. In 1851, timber magnate Andrew Carnegie donated land to build his new steel mill which became known as Carnegie Steel Company; it remains one of the largest employers in town today. In 1865, General Grant delivered an address to a crowd of supporters at Armory Square calling forMinnesota to become part of the Union during the American Civil War; this event is also celebrated yearly as National Grant Day. In 1907, President William McKinley dedicated Park Avenue Cemetery which contains some of Rochester's most famous citizens including former Mayor John D'Angelo and business executive Cyrus Siegelman Sr.. During World War II, over 1 million Army troops were stationed here with plants such as Ford Motor Company and Bethlehem Steel making metal products for soldiers all over Japan and Europe. After World War II ended, many factories closed but many continue to operate today like Hormel Foods Inc., Bed Bath & Beyond Stores Inc., Best Buy Co., Sears Holdings Corporation and Macy's Department Store (now JCPenney).
