Richfield is a small town located in the Minnesota Twin Cities metropolitan area. The population was 10,539 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. The University of Minnesota (UM) and its largest employer, Target Corporation, are two of Richfield's most prominent economic engines. The first settlers to Richfield were farmers who arrived during the early 1800s from Sweden.
