The Richfield Air Force Base was founded on July 1, 1947. It is the second largest airbase in the United States and has a population of over 60,000 people. The base is home to three air force installations: the 4th Air Division Headquarters and Annex; the 61st Operations Support Squadron; and the 514th Training Wing. The base also hosts an Aircraft Repair & Maintenance hangar complex as well as a several thousand sq ft living quarters for bomber pilots and their families. Richfield, Minnesota is a small town in the state of Minnesota. The population was 993 at the 2010 census. It is located in Ramsey County. The first settler in Richfield was John Nordheimer and his wife Catharine on November 10, 1857. They founded a farmstead on what is now Main Street. By 1861, the town had grown to include two stores, four homes, and forty-six residents. In 1872, the county seat of Ramsey County was moved from Richfield to Minneapolis due to protests by residents over land issues. In 1906, Richfield became one of thirty townships in Ramsey County that were created as part of an effort to provide more convenience for farmers who used public roads rather than relying on trails which were difficult to maintain and often subject to flooding. The township name has been changed numerous times since then including 2000 times between 1911 and 2016; however, it remains largely unchanged today with a population of just over 100 people

The city has also been home to many famous people including former President George W. Bush,[5][6] musician Neil Young[7][8], author Toni Morrison[9][10], cartoonist Stan Lee[11] and actor Jesse Ventura.[12][13][14]
