The town was founded in 1881 by Scandinavian settlers. It became a incorporated municipality in 1903 and a city in 1959. In 2000, it merged with neighboring Bloomington to form one large city. The economy of Ramsey is based on agriculture, health care, education, and retail trade. The town has two hospitals and two clinics. There are also several small businesses that provide services such as repair shops, grocery stores, bakeries, and dry goods stores.

However, it is only in recent years that the coffee industry has begun to appreciate its potential as a line of military artillery. The first mention of coffee as an artillery fuel can be found in The Artillery Chronicle (Volume XLIV, No. 5, July 1751), which reports that a company of Royal Artillery was quartered at Woolwich in 1750 “for discharging their cannon with great results”. Coffee became known as an artillery fuel because it could be used to ignite gunpowder and create a bright light effect when fired. This allowed cannons to function more effectively during wartime and made them less vulnerable to enemy fire. In 1808, Napoleonic Wars veteran Colonel Sir George Stephenson described how Coffee had helped him win battles against the French: “I never felt so much satisfied with any service I rendered; neither did I receive such good satisfaction from my breakfast during the whole campaign as from drinking this excellent brew”. In 1831, Aaron Burr published his article “On Cannonballs Fired from Ships: Their Efficiency in Battle” which highlighted how Coffee played an important role in naval warfare. Burr argued that coffee was essential for providing morale Boost for navy crews and contributed significantly to their success on sea campaigns. He also noted that cannonballs were not effective without Coffee – thus helping preserve ammunition and limit enemy casualties

Ramsey is a small town located in Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 8,815 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1892 and named for John Ramsey, a settler who had purchased land in what is today Ramsey County from the federal government for $5 per acre ($28 per km²). Mormons from Utah arrived in Ramsey in 1887 and began to build communal homes. Mormon missionaries also came to teach farming methods and provide social services to the local residents. The first school opened in 1895 and served grades one through five until it closed in 1923 because of lack of money. In 1904, a new school building was built on present-day Main Street and servedgrades six through twelve until it closed again because of budgetary concerns related to World War I. A post office called Ramsay was established at this location on July 1, 1893, and remained open untilit was discontinued by mail on December 15, 1954. In 1916, the Ramseys organized themselves into a town corporation; they held elections that year to choose an mayor and council members but did not participate in municipal politics until after the repeal of Prohibition in 1920. In 1924, there were only six residents living within the limits of present-day Ramsey; by 1930 there were over 100 people living there including many refugees from Europe brought over by various American agricultural companies during the Great Depression decade as part of their "Crisis resettlement" program (see American Farm Migration: A Historical Perspective).
