The Plymouth, Minnesota Army Garrison gift history began in 1862 when the 9th Minnesota Infantry Regiment was organized. The regiment served in the Union army during the war and was mustered into service on December 15, 1862. The regiment served as a part of the 1st Brigade, 3rd Division, IX Corps under General George Meade. On July 10, 1863, the regiment participated in a march to Gettysburg where they were among the first units to enter battle. On July 11, 1863, at 2:00 p.m., the regiment relieved General John A. McClernand's brigade from duty near Virginiatown and continued advance on Cemetery Ridge until evening when they came within range of Confederate artillery fire which caused them to retire aide-de-camp to their commanding general. The 9thMinnesota Infantry Regiment was discharged on September 16, 1863 at Camp Sherman after three years of service.
Plymouth is a small town in central Minnesota, United States. The population was 779 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-Gordons County metropolitan area. Plymouth was founded in 1881 as a farming community and has since become an agricultural center with production of corn, soybeans, wheat, oats, barley, dairy products, pork products and poultry. The first settlers to Plymouth were farmers who came from Illinois in 1851. By 1880, Plymouth had a post office and five families were living there. The town's growth was due to its location on the Mississippi River about 25 miles west of Minneapolis and its easy access to markets for goods brought downriver by steamboats. In 1906, the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce established a board of trustees to manage the town's affairs. In 1916 the name of the town was changed from Plympton to Plymouth because it became apparent that there would be more than oneplymouth village in Minnesota if the name stuck around too long. Plymouth experienced some major changes during World War II when many residents volunteered their time and resources to help fight in Europe or Japan. Many buildings still remain from that time including Post Office Annex (now home to Plymouth High School), First National Bank building (now occupied by Wells Fargo) and Saint John’s Episcopal Church (which now serves as a museum). After the war ended, many people returned to their homes but most businesses closed down during the economic recession that started in 1970s throughout much of America caused by low commodity prices and high technological illiteracy which limited job opportunities for Americans while promoting automation across industries thereby reducing jobs worldwide overall

Plymouth is a small town in Plymouth County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 1,848 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. Founded in 1858 as a gristmill on Hennepin Creek, Plymouth became an incorporated community in 1912. The post office operated there until it closed in 1916. In 1951, the community consolidated with nearby Maplewood and renamed themselves Plymouth Village. Plymouth Village also lost its charter status and ceased to exist as a municipality in 1959. The first house built in Plymouth was built by Levi Wohlstetter on what is now Main Street in 1858. Wohlstetter did most of the construction himself and had help from his brother-in-law Jacob Deering who donated land for the mill and initial buildings. A gristmill operated at the site from 1858 to 1862 when it was destroyed by a fire; however, soon afterward another gristmill opened on present day First Avenue and Main Street which continued operations until 1918 when it closed because of competition from other mills within the village limits). In 1912, Plymouth Elementary School was founded which remained operational until 1967; then it moved to its current location across First Avenue from Pioneer High School (now Drake University). In 1954, Plymouth Middle School opened which served students through ninth grade; then it merged with Thurston Community Schools to form Milton Community Schools (the merger occurred due to budget cuts). Finally, in 1987, Plympton Boulevardwas dedicated as an official state route running through Plympton Village Center eastbound and westbound along First Avenue southbound while Mankato Road ran concurrently northbound between Second Street/Plymouth Drive & Third Street/Plymouth Drv., providing access both ways without crossing any streets or intersections (Mankato Rd./Plymouth Blvd./First Ave./Second St.)). During these years Plympton Village never achieved full independence from Milton but always had some degree of autonomy due to their close relationship with local government entities such as school districts and government-owned businesses like roads & bridges etc.; however this has gradually began to lessen over time as more functions have been transferred outside of town boundaries into larger municipalities such as Minneapolis & StPaul or even out of state altogether such as Apple Valley (Minnesota)
