The Otsego Army National Guard was organized on November 1, 1887. The unit was activated and raised in Otsego County. The first enlisted troops were brought in through the enlistment process on December 1, 1889. The OtsegoArmyNationalGuard has served our country faithfully since then, with deployments to Afghanistan (2001), Iraq (2003-2007), Kuwait (2008-2009), Puerto Rico (2010-2011) and Germany (2013). Today, we continue that proud history by recognizing Veterans Day with a National Guard salute and parade on October 11th. In commemoration of all our Troops who have given their lives for our country, we also observe Veteran’s Day each year with a remembrance service at Fort Snelling Park in Minneapolis.
