From 1916 until 1978, Marine Supply Co., which is now known as Marine Depot, was located at 214 S 2nd Street in Oakdale. The store became an important part of the community because it sold various merchandise related to maritime interests such as anchors, lights and accessories for boats and vessels, supplies for fishermen, marine paints and boat care products, among others items. In 1978, Marine Depot moved out of its longtime home on S 2nd Street into what is now the Joe’s Pizza building on Main Street in Oakdale. This move allowed the business to grow even more into what it is today - one of the most popular sources of marine gift services in town! Oakdale is a small town in thecentral Minnesota county of Ramsey. The population was 9,951 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. Oakdale's ZIP Code 56312 is within its boundaries. The town was founded in 1887 by James and Fannie Hardesty as a farming community on a tract of land that they had bought from the Hennepin County government. The Hardesty brothers were among the original settlers, and their daughter, Lilla Hardesty (1886-1976), became one of America's first women attorneys when she won a case before the United States Supreme Court in 1935. In 1916, Oakdale incorporated as a village and soon thereafter began to develop into an agricultural center with a large dairy, hog farm, chicken coop, corn cribs and other agriculture products processing plants. In 1928 it became an incorporated town with its own police department; in 1961 it joined Ramsey County as one of its five townships. The economy has been dominated by consumer services since those early days: retail stores such as Staples and Kmart opened up in the 1990s; major construction projects such as Interstate 94 were built around that time; and now much of what used to be local production has moved offshore or overseas due to global competition. A major employer since then has been Google Inc., which built its campus adjacent to town after securing some land through eminent domain back in 2007; today there are over 1,000 jobs associated with that project alone though most are located on or near Town Center Drive about four miles northeast of downtown Oakdale proper (the old post office).

Oakdale is a small town located in Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. It was founded in 1887 by the railroad baron John W. Dennison and his wife Eliza. The population was 576 at the 2000 census. The town is named after an oak tree that stood near the original site of the town. The first post office was established in 1870, and the first settler to arrive was George Wirths on November 3, 1887. Some of Oakdale's earliest businesses were a farm implement store and a livery stable. A grocery store opened in 1898, followed by a sawmill in 1901. In 1904, Oakdale had its first school; it would be renamed Maple Grove School until it moved to its present location in 1949. In 1910, construction began on what would become one of Oakdale's most popular tourist attractions: Pine Lake State Park! This park would later become one of America's largest state parks with over 200 miles (320 km) of trails for people to explore! In 1914, the bank building burned down and became known as "the red barn" because so many years ago it served as headquarters for the local Grange Society chapter! The post office closed circa 1940 due to dwindling mail volume; however, it reopened under new management soon afterwards with continuing service until 1995 when automated postal service replaced it completely! One notable resident from early on was Ole Kirkpatrick who started working at the post office when he was just thirteen years old! He went on to serve as Postmaster General from 1959-1971 under President Lyndon B Johnson before becoming Deputy Mayor of Minneapolis during Richard Muhlenberg's term as mayor beginning in 1979; he retired from politics at age seventy-six after four terms as mayor! During World War II Oakdale furnished more than 2 million cans of gasoline for military use; this helped contribute significantly to forest firefighting efforts across North America during that time period! After World War II endedOakdale experienced an influx of refugees who had fled Communism throughout Europe - these refugees formed various churches and organizations within their new homes which continue today such as Statedown Christian Church (founded 1945), First Presbyterian Church (founded 1951), United Methodist Church (founded 1954), Lutheran Social Services International(established 1955), Catholic Charities USA(established 1957), and many others...A number of these refugee families turned their homes into social services agencies which still operate today including Welcome Home Fundraising Inc.(established 1984). Oakdale was founded in 1854 by John and Cateye Oak. The town grew quickly, and by 1860 it had a population of over 100 people. In 1865, the first school was built in what is now the east side of town. By 1875, Oakdale had a post office and two churches. The town suffered during the Great Minnesota Fire of 1886, but slowly recovered after that event. In 1922, Oakdale became an incorporated city.
