In 1965, New Hope merged with neighboring Hermantown to form one municipality. The City of Hermantown dissolved on February 14, 2006 and its assets were transferred to New Hope proper within two days of that announcement. There’s no telling where coffee began, but it is indisputable that coffee was first enjoyed and brewed in East Africa. And though we may think ofAfrica as the birthplace of espresso, it wasn’t until the early 1800s that coffee beans were brought over to Europe by British traders. From there, things started to get interesting. In 1819, Baron Von Toller discovered a new way to roast coffee beans- by roasting them on an open fire. This gave the beans a smoky flavor and a slightly bitter aftertaste which quickly became popular throughout Europe. By 1830, Coffeehouses had become a regular part of European society and were often found in highly influential areas like Paris and London. Roasting methods also evolved over time- from whole bean to ground espresso (though this soon changed as well). As the world went about its day-to-day affairs, coffee continued to be enjoyed for its unique flavor profile and its ability to provide alertness and energy during long hours at work or study. After World War II, growth slowed as demand for housing shifted from manufacturing to service jobs. However, by the late 1990s, new businesses had begun to open up and population growth resumed after reaching its current level in 2000. Today, New Hope remains an vibrant community with strong ties to its rural past and roots in agriculture and fishing. Many residents still maintain close relationships with their family members who live on farms or fish near civilization; many also continue work on local farms or join other agricultural families during summertime activities such as planting beans or corn on their properties.
On July 4, 1851, a small group of settlers from New Hope, Minnesota set out on a cattle drive to the Dakota Territory. The group had originated in Iowa and was made up of farmers and their families who were looking for land to farm. They arrived at the Badlands near present-day Fargo on July 3rd. The group built a cabin and startedRandom Wars with the Native Americans. On November 2nd, they were successful in overcoming an Indian attack and founded what is now New Hope, Minnesota.
