The national guard was a United States military reserve force that originally consisted of soldiers from Iowa and Minnesota. The first National Guard unit in Mounds View was organized on December 14, 1907 when the Iowa Guards were called to active duty to help protect the city of Des Moines during the 1908 presidential election. The state of Minnesota reactivated its National Guard on October 1, 1912. The first unit in Mounds View was Colored Troops from Stonington, Connecticut. In 1916, both states merged their National Guard into one organization and became known as the Minnesota National Guard. In 1934, the Minnesota legislature designated Mounds View as the home of the national guard command center for all Midwest region defense purposes. On July 15, 1937, President Franklin D. Roosevelt ordered that all U.S. Army units be mustered out by September 30th so that they could be replaced by local units under governor's control as part of a nationwide troop mobilization plan termed "the Great Crusade." This order also activated 3 battalions (36 Infantry) from Minneapolis and 2 battalions (53 Infantry) from Cedar Rapids in anticipation of World War II; however no troops arrived until after Pearl Harbor because those battalions were stationed at Fort Snelling in Bloomington instead which opened up space for them there! On November 9th 1938 emergency call for all available men for service with effect from December 8th led to 1st Regiment being mobilized at once and 4 companies being sent to Sault Ste Marie; these companies included Company C which had just been detached from Cannon Air Force Base preparatory to deployment overseas when World War II began! As it turned out only Company C actually deployed overseas but they did so with great Public Applause! remarkably given their rather low casualty rate even though they faced some very tough fighting along the way including an attack by JapaneseMackerel boats while guarding convoy passage throughHQ at LaPorte County Airport- classic coastal cross country flying!!! Prior involvement in military operations had not endedearning any distinction among men serving outside our borders – henceforth came international fame- but soon enough things changed! After VE Day hostilities terminated without battle or conquest it reverted back to peacetime form with companies remaining quartered at various installations throughout MN until disbanded on October 15th 1946 due to technological advancements!! It should be noted here that this wasn’t simply a case of “mobilizing last minute”- units were mobilized weeks earlier in anticipation following Army cuts caused by WWII spending restraint program)!

Mounds View is a small town in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area, located about 25 miles north of the Twin Cities. The population was 5,898 at the 2010 census. Mounds View is part of the Minneapolis–St. Paul city council and is also home to Lakeshore Mall and several smaller shopping centers. The first known settler in what is now Mounds View was John Nicolaysen, who arrived in 1847. Nicolaysen named his land "Moundview", after one of his discoveries near Watertown, Kansas. Nicolaysen's family continued to live here until his death in 1872. The first store in Mounds View was established by J.C. Loring in 1886; it closed its doors in 1892 because of financial difficulties. The first post office at Mounds View was opened on October 3, 1889; it closed its doors on May 4, 1912 due to budget cuts instituted by then-Mayor John Ahern (). In 1902, Henry Sibley donated 9 acres (3 ha) of land east of US 26 for the construction of a school and garage complex which would become known as Sibley Park (). The original school building still stands today and serves as the centerpiece of the park complex - with an amphitheater that can seat up to 1,500 people (). A new high School was built adjacent to Sibley Park between 1966 and 1969 using funds provided by philanthropist Julius Rosenwald (), who also made a gift for new tennis courts and other amenities within the park () . After years of discussion among community members and officials from neighboring towns,,the Minnesota Legislature approved plans for a mixedUse Development project called "Moundview Hills" which would include both housing units as well as commercial space (); this ultimately led to the current shopping center developments being completed around this same time frame (). In autumn 2006 local developer James Kipp founded Kipp Properties LLC with plans for redevelopment of entire blocks bounded by State Highway 6A (now I-5), Broadway Avenue (& State Highway 169), Oak Street (& County Road 787) & Third Street (& US 66). The redevelopment plan includes demolition or renovation of existing buildings along with erection or addition of new structures including: a professional fitness center, indoor waterpark/spa/, movie theater/cinemas/entertainment complexes,. There are currently no final plans for development but there are tentative designs that depict an interconnected village type atmosphere with exposed brick mortar walls and large glass fronts

Mounds View is a community in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It was founded in 1854 by the Chippewa Indians as part of an agreement between the United States and Great Britain. The community grew rapidly due to its proximity to Minneapolis and its status as a rail junction. In 1907, Mounds View became a city and remains one today. The area now known as Mounds View was first populated by the Chippewa and other Native American groups in the area that is now Minneapolis. The first European to come through this area was Captain James Watt of Scottish origin who explored this region in 1795 while on his way from St. Paul to Montreal via the Mississippi River Valley. He named what is now Mounds View after Chief Wabasha, who lived near him on the banks of the Minnesota River at Fort Snelling during the time he visited this area. In 1854, Commissioner John Auld agreed to give land north of present-day Hennepin Avenue for development into town according to an arrangement between Great Britain and the United States. This land included parts of what are now downtown Minneapolis including blocks east of Third Street and west of Lyndale Avenue (now called Nicollet Mall). The town quickly grew due to its location next door to Minneapolis and its status as a railroad junction; it reached 100 residents by 1860. By 1870, tax assessment records show that property within Moundview had been sold for $1,500 per acre ($115 per hectare) more than any other part of Minneapolis County despite being much closer to potential settlers.(1) The growth of Moundview continued apace until 1907 when it merged with neighboring communities Bloomington-Normal and Falcon Heights-Hennepin into what would become Minneapolis City Limits. At that time, only about 20 percent of all population located within City Limits belonged to either municipality.(2) As such, although MNL became one city under annexation by MN on July 1 1907, many aspects including cultural heritage remain largely unchanged todaydespite rapid economic growth over ensuing decades which has led some changes along with it like zoning laws which have impacted how business operations can take place within certain areas resulting in increased traffic congestion around certain neighborhoods (e.g., North End). Additionally there exists increasing concern surrounding climate change effects both here locally & nationally which may impact civic engagement & investment attributed directly or indirectly thereto especially when considering infrastructure needs like public transit expansion/replacement & energy efficiency retrofit initiatives currently underway or planned across various municipalities statewide (& even internationally), making MnL’s long term future increasingly daunting!
Mounds View is a town in Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 1,978 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis–St. Paul metropolitan area. The first settlers in the area were farmers who arrived in 1858 and began to clear land for agriculture. A post office was established at Mounds View in 1859, and the community name was changed to Maple Grove in 1865 because of the many maple trees that grew there. In 1870, a school was built and named after Sarah Moody (1829-1900), an early settler and woman educator from nearby Apple Valley. In 1898, construction started on a dam across Cedar Lake which would provide irrigation water for Mounds View and Maple Grove; this created much controversy because it decreased water availability for other residents in the area. In 1914, Maple Grove became an incorporated town with its own government; however, it reverted back to township status in 1924 due to lack of population growth or development within the boundaries oftownship. After World War II ended, Mounds View experienced rapid growth as people came into the area looking for jobs during reconstruction. The population reached 2,000 by 1957 and peaked at 4,500 by 1990; however, it has slowly declined since then due to migration away from rural areas into urban areas and loss of jobs throughoutMinnesota duringthe 2000s recession).
