Fresh roasted coffee beans are a centuries old tradition in Moorhead, Minnesota. The first coffee beans were ground and roasted by the family of Elias Howe in 1868. The town was known for its fine roasts and it was also home to one of the first grocery stores in the area. In 1915, Mr. John Hickey opened his own coffee shop in town and continued to roast and sell his coffee until he passed away in 1978. His son-in-law, Jerry Hickey, took over the business after Mr. Hickey's death and continues to run it today. Today, fresh roasted coffee is a popular commodity throughout the Midwest due to its unique flavor profile and low acidity levels. There are many different types of fresh roasted coffees available, but some of our favorites include Ethiopian Yirgacheffe, Guatemalan Central American Robusta, Colombian Puros Oeste, Java Black Robusta, African Dark Roast (Aroasi), Arabica beans from Ethiopia and Colombia respectively, as well as Assam Naga Coffee from India.

In 1912, Moorhead coffee was the first to be roasted in a new and innovative roasting process called "French press." This process involved pressing coffee beans through a small hole in the top of a French press. The result was a darker and more tannic cup of coffee than any other type of coffee available at the time.
Moorhead is a town in central Minnesota, United States. The population was 5,868 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis–St. Paul metropolitan area. Moorhead was founded in 1856 as a small community on the east side of what is now Interstate 94. The town had a population of 712 in 1860 and grew to 1,094 by 1880. In 1907, the city of Moorhead was consolidated with neighboring townships to form one municipality and Moorhead's population reached 2,362 by 1920. The city annexed other nearby townships between 1927 and 1951 until it had a total population of 6,564 residents in 2000. In 2006, Moorhead became the first city in Minnesota to be designated an Energy Star City for its energy conservation measures Moorhead has been known for its agricultural products since before it became incorporated as a town; cornmeal and flour have been the mainstay industries since early 1800s when settlers first arrived in this area. Many items still made from cornmeal such as bread dough and gasoline naphtha are produced here today including some local brands like MiLB Corn Mound In recent years there has been much development around downtown Moorhead – which has seen several buildings constructed new over the last few years including a new mall called Riverfront Plaza that opened in 2009 and attracted much interest from businesses throughout the greater Twin Cities area The popularity of downtown continues with events happening all year round such as Farmers Market Fridays during fall & winter months or art shows& festivals throughout summer

Moorhead, Minnesota is a town in the U.S. state of Minnesota, located on the Missouri River near its confluence with the Red River. Moorhead was founded by Norwegian immigrants in 1858 and became a city in 1902. The population was 13,691 at the 2010 census, making it the ninth most populous municipality in Minnesota. The first settlers to what is now Moorhead were Norwegian farmers who arrived from Porsgrunn on Long Island Sound in 1857. They chose this location because of its access to water and easy transportation to markets on the upper Great Lakes. When they started planting crops, they did so around three small ponds that still stand today: White Pond, East Pond, and North Pond. These early pioneers enjoyed fishing and hunting their land until white settlement began developing along the riverbanks east of them in 1872-74. In 1876-77 John Atherton built a flour mill on White Pond for $5 per acre (the current structure was completed in 1905). This mill soon became an important part of the local economy as it produced high quality flour which was sold throughout southeastern Minnesota and southwest Iowa. Atherton also developed a coke ovens at his mill which allowed him to produce unique candied fruit products such as figs and apples that are still popular today! In 1898 he donated land south of his mills for use as a streetcar stop known then as "Athertons Ferry". Today's intersection of State Road 9W and US Highway 61 marks this spot where Atherton laid down his foundation stone! Moorhead experienced rapid growth during World War I due to wartime demand for commodities such as clothing, gasoline, cereal grains, munitions, cookies and other items essential to war effort. The town went from 1,800 residents in 1916 to 4,500 residents by 1920 due to military production plants established here including both General Mills' Maywood plant (now part of Mallof America)and Armour's Stonington plant (now part of Target). However following World War I there was significant decline in population due largely to natural causes such as Depression-era migration away from rural areas; however after World War II there has been continued growth thanks largely to new industrial development within walking distance of downtown Moorhead! Today Moorhead is one of seven municipalities – along with Apple Valley (), Elkader (), Hastings (), Hibbing ()and Hutchinson ()– included within Minneapolis/St Paul Metropolitan Area Combined Statistical Area (CSA), which has a total population over 6 million people! CSA includes all 5 counties surrounding Minneapolis/St Paul: Hennepin County (), Ramsey County (), Washington County (), Scott County ()and Nicollet County (). Many aspects associated with downtown Moorhead remain unchanged since its heyday during Prohibition era: many businesses still operate out of buildings dating back more than 100 years including J&J Bakery & Cafe (founded 1915), Watchtower Bible & Tract Society Store (1916), Standard Oil Building (1921), Gopher Glass Workshops Incorporated building(1927-1981), First National Bank building(1984-present)… etc., among others! Downtown redevelopment efforts have included conversion or addition of several historic buildings including former Norcross Drugstore into apartments/residence units called "Downtown Renewal" while also creating new business districts such as Broadway Corridor District 2 which features high end retail options; Heritage District which showcases century old structures; University District featuring professional offices; South CentralDistrict focused primarily on housing developments; etc..
