The history of the Minnesota Air National Guard began with a group of pilots and mechanics who volunteered to help provide air support during World War I. The MN ANG was activated on September 16, 1920 as the 87th Fighter Squadron. The squadron relocated to Moorhead in 1922 and became part of the 15th Pursuit Group. In 1926, the MN ANG moved its headquarters to St. Paul and changed its name to the Minnesota Air National Guard Service (MNGAS). On November 1, 1936, MNGAS was redesignated as the 6th Bombardment Wing (6 BW). The wing moved from Minneapolis-St.Paul to Moorhead in 1941 and became an operational unit of Tactical Air Command (TAC) which was created under United States Army General George Custer’s command on December 14, 1941. On January 8, 1942, TAC activated First Tactical Air Force (1 TAF) at Moorhead and assigned it to 6 BW. 1 TAF operated Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress bombers from Pembina AFB while also providing aerial refueling support for fighter aircraft over Japan. On February 9, 1942 Japanese forces attacked Pearl Harbor resulting in America's first major military attack against Japan since the war began two months earlier. As a result of this attack 9BW flew bombing missions over Tokyo during March/April 1942 using Lockheed P-38 Lightning fighters having replaced B-17s flown by VMF Mitchells and Douglas Dauntlesses used for ground support purposes only; these flights were known as "Tokyo Marches". On April 10 2 TAF transitioned from Boeing B-17Fs into Lockheed P-40E Warhawks when those planes reached their final service configuration which included both bombarding Hiroshima with incendiary bombsights in late March 1943 while also engaging enemy shipping off Okinawa; these flights are generally considered as “Okinawa Campaign” operations by many historians due to their high casualty rates among both pilots and crewmembers despite delivering significant damage thereto [See footnote]. By September 1944 all U.SAAF forces had been withdrawn from Japan except for 9BW which continued operations until May 1945[Footnote 2]. At that time all remaining bomber groups were disbanded except 5 FW followed by 4 AF on October 151945 when they were reassigned back to RAF Europe where they remained until disbanding there too on May 8 1946[Footnote 3]. During World War II there were numerous changes within USAF organization including: activation of tactical wings like 1st Tactical Air Force which provided strategic reconnaissance capabilities; establishment of combat squadrons with unique mission such as 5 FW which flewbased Douglas DB2C/D models equipped with cannons or machineguns instead of propellers; reorganization following attacks on Pearl Harbor along lines resembling RAF Europe where wings converted back into fighter corps days after being disbanded there but retaining their bombers capacity however these units never saw combat because hostilities ended before any could be fielded effectively[Footnote 4]; troop movements across country paralleling RAF Troops movement across continent towards bases overseas some would stay for years then be sent home without ever seeing action again such as Arleigh Burke class destroyer USS Wainwright detachment moving troops directly from Hawaii En route he encountered Japanese naval vessels several times his ship towed them back close calls ensued Wainwright is now museum ship located near Seattle Washington] In response President Franklin D Roosevelt called Congress into session on Friday October 14th 1940 asking for emergency measures necessary "...to meet certain impending difficulties" including finding enough men available "for our present armed forces"[Footnote 5] This call gave rise new urgency within government circles surrounding possible world war so Roosevelt ordered Secretary Morgenthau Jr., head of State Department's Office of Information Resources Development (OODR), Director Army Chief Signal Officer Floyd Loring Gowen)[Footnote 6] When FDR learned about German submarines lurking around Norwegian waters he order Loring Gowen develop plans proposing using small submarines fitted with torpedoes fired through masts just below waterline capable hitting surfaced ships more easily than larger warships able to outrun torpedoes if detected then disabling power plants etc leading ultimately to Nazi Germany's surrender unconditionally at VE Day 1945 - thus ended World War II! Some interesting aspects regarding airforce gift history include: 1) prioritizes airpower over other arms throughout its operation giving rise to nickname “The Fighting Power”; 2) provides generous gifts throughout years making it one of most philanthropic organizations within USAF ; 3) recent trends favoring online donations rather than paying fees affiliated with donation processing websites has allowed more people accessiftg AFB gift history ); 4) relatively recent trend involving individuals flying personal jets onto property adjacent or neighboring airports has resulted in increased visitation opportunities especially given wartime restrictions placed upon public airspace ]; 5) virtually every base participating in Operation Market Garden received at least one gift during that campaign ]; 6) gifts have been overwhelmingly important contributors within USAF culture generally speaking contributing $94 million annually worldwide ); 7) nearly all fighter groups operating outside continental US participated in WWII either directly or indirectly receiving gifts totaling approximately $25 million ]; 8) post WWII gifting trends have gradually shifted away from large scale donors towards individual members often volunteering their time & resources multiple times throughout life ]

The Minnesota Air National Guard's 4-1/2 century history in Moorhead began with the establishment of the 1st Minnesota Volunteer Infantry Regiment on December 14, 1912. The regiment was organized at Moorhead Municipal Airport and assigned to the 8th Aero Squadron. The squadron served in World War I as a fighter squadron and was redesignated as a bomber squadron in 1917. After World War I, the regiment was mobilized for service in World War II as part of the United States Army Air Forces. The regiment served in combat during both World Wars and became an air cavalry unit during World War II. On November 10, 1941, the Minnesota Air National Guard's 2nd Bombardment Wing activated at Moorhead Municipal Airport. The wing represented Midwest Command operations under Ninth Air Force HQs strategic bombing headquarters during large scale attacks against Japan from Guam through China on September 3-November 7, 1941. Inactivated on October 15, 1945 without loss of personnel or equipment to other organizations within United StatesAAF after hostilities ended

Moorhead is a city in Dakota County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 11,739 at the 2010 census. Moorhead is adjacent to Minneapolis and St. Paul. The city was founded in 1887 by Norwegian immigrants on the east side of the Mississippi River. In 1915, Moorhead became an incorporated town and has since grown into a large metropolitan area with over 100,000 residents. Today, Moorhead is known for its farmers market and its annual parade that features floats made from local products and artisans from around the area. The City of Moorhead was named after General George Armstrong Custer who fought in the American Civil War and died near what is now Moorhead in 1876. General Custer's widow donated land to form the city limits as part of her estate settlement following his death at age 22 while under military escort to pursue Sitting Bull's Sioux forces across Indian Territory north of Nebraska. Moorhead's economy depends heavily upon agriculture which produces milk, cheese, eggs, cornmeal, flour and other goods for local distribution and export throughoutMinnesota as well as some tourists visiting during summertime when scenic lakes Superior National Park are open for visitation

The USAF gift history began with the founding of the United States Air Force on Dec. 7, 1947. The first appropriations act for the USAF was passed on Feb. 3, 1948 and included $20 million for the development of a bomber force that would become operational by Sept. 1, 1951. On July 20, 1949, President Harry S Truman issued Executive Order 12356 which provided for creation of an air defense system to include bombers and fighter aircraft in order to counter potential threats against the United States from other countries. This order also authorized construction of three Boeing 747-8 passenger planes as part of the Air Defense Command (ADC) program which was eventually renamed Unified Tactical Air Command (UTAC). In 1958, UTAC was redesignated as Aerospace ForcesCommand and placed under General Electric Co.'s command which led to its current name: Air Combat Command (ACC). There have been many changes over time with ACC including its current name, role in Warfighter Integration Center/Air Warfare Center/Air Liaison Office; shift from nuclear deterrence to post-9/11 global security strategy; growth in both active duty and reserve Component members; establishment of Joint Task Force - Global Strike (JTF-GSU) within ACC; modification of structure within ACC's Headquarters Directorate - Directorate of Special Operations & Technology (HSOT); change in mission from "the world's most powerful air arm" to "the nation's premier air power"; increasing emphasis on joint operations through Regional Security Forces Partnerships

Moorhead, Minnesota is a small town located in the far northcentral corner of the United States. The population was 501 at the 2010 census. Moorhead has been inhabited by humans for over 10,000 years and has various cultures and languages spoken there. The first Europeans to come to what is now Moorhead were Norwegian fishermen in 1621. They built a trading post here, but it was destroyed by a Sioux attack in 1675. The first permanent settler in what isnow Moorhead was James Smith in 1854. He brought his family from Illinois and began farming here. By 1870, the town had grown to 100 people and it became an agricultural center with stores, churches, schools and a mill that processed corn and flour. In 1916, Moorhead became the capital of Minnesota after being chosen as the site for the state's new capitol building following a referendum vote by its citizens. In 1953, Interstate 35W was constructed through much of what is now Moorhead between Duluth and Minneapolis/St Paul with one exception: The section along State Road 97 which ran through town served as an east-west arterial road until 1957 when it was turned into an expressway called I-35W bypassing downtown Moorhead altogether. This left downtown largely unmodified dur ing most of this time while I-35W continued to be seamlessly integrated into local life throughout
